Providence Health & Services Senior Manager, Compensation PSJH in Oregon

We are seeking a Senior Manager Compensation PSJH to manage the compensation function for assigned area of responsibility. Plan, develop and implement new and revised compensation programs, policies and procedures to be responsive to the mission, strategic goals, and competitive practices. In partnership with compensation leadership, provide input and project management oversight to design and implement multi-faceted solutions to achieve the strategic compensation plans for the organization. Typically focuses on providing short and mid-term solutions. Research industry best practices and uses information to meet business objectives. Ensure compensation programs are consistently administered in compliance with company policies and government regulations. Team typically supports multiple geographic areas, lines of business and senior leadership teams.

In this position you will have the following responsibilities:

  • Support the development and implementation of progressive & business-focused compensation solutions. Work collaboratively with compensation leadership and team to provide leadership and management in designing, evaluating and implementing programs, policies, practices, and procedures to attract, retain and motivate talent, and to meet the changing needs of the organization. Build partnerships across the organization to facilitate information sharing and reporting, as well as creation of cross-functional solutions to achieve strategic objectives.

  • Manage day-to-day work of team, prioritizing requests and projects for assigned areas. Proactively work with leadership to address staffing related resource issues or conflicting priorities, ensuring adequate staffing is available for all agreed upon priorities. Responsible for handling complex and sometimes highly confidential projects or issues. Serve as an escalation point for clients. Work with client groups across multiple states and business lines to understand compensation needs and adjusts style, support, materials,etc. where possible to support the clients' needs.

  • Provide mentorship, coaching and development support to a compensation team. Is involved in all aspects of people management including hiring, performance and development, performance improvement, and terminations.

  • Lead or provide oversight to compensation projects of large scope and/or complexity. Direct the work of team members assigned to the project.

  • Coordinate with appropriate areas to develop and deploy training and information presentations on compensation related topics.

  • Assist with the evaluation of compensation tools and systems, to ensure the necessary compensation tools and systems are acquired and implemented.

  • May provide input to annual budgeting process for department and compensation programs.

  • Ensure compliance of compensation related programs with federal, state, and local laws. May include partnerships with clients and legal.

  • Leverage aligned practices to foster and lead compensation teams for an alignment with strategies, market conditions, and business requirements.


Required qualifications for this position include:

  • Bachelor's Degree in Human Resources, Business, Management or related field.

  • 8 years of progressively responsible compensation experience.

  • 6 years of leadership experience.

  • Highly proficient in Excel & PowerPoint. Familiarity with HRIS systems, SharePoint and Microsoft Office Products.

  • Strong project management skills.

Preferred qualifications for this position include:

  • CCP.

  • Healthcare experience.
