Providence Health & Services Principal Decision Support Analyst in Oregon
Providence St. Joseph Health is calling a Principal Decision Support Analyst. This role works remotely but candidates for this role must reside in Alaska, Washington, Montana, Oregon, or California.
We are seeking a Principal Decision Support Analyst who will be responsible for establishing, maintaining, and analyzing the decision support cost information system. Monitors the decision support database to assure data integrity, security and validity as well as efficient and appropriate system use. The Principal Decision Support Analyst will be the central point of contact for system and regional finance and decision support teams and acts as the liaison between Epic and IT to coordinate and facilitate data and system administration activities.
One of the primary key roles and responsibilities for this position is to standardize and automate the Financial, Clinical and Productivity statistics from a number of source systems like Hyperion Financial Management and Genesis ERP as well as other databases. This position will require extensive SQL skills and ability to query and analyze large data sets. Also, this position needs the knowledge and ability to understand how statistics drive various areas of healthcare.

In this position you will have the following responsibilities:
Key coordinator in the daily operations, configuration and maintenance of the enterprise decision support cost information system for Providence. Understands the basic clinical and financial business processes, data quality issues, data use, and any other areas of special focus for the data assigned. Responsible for the maintenance and development of existing and new interfaces/uploads associated with the decision support application.
Lead coordination with the cost accounting team on the audit process and maintain accountability over the data integrity of the decision support system. Responsible for the database management of the decision support system as it relates to data integration, auditing and reconciliation, establishment and maintenance of the costing methodology and standards in the system: costing RVU’s, overhead allocation methodology and annual updates to standards.
Develop and maintain system-standard Decision Support reports within the system. Strong communication skills, both written and verbal with demonstrated ability to interact with technical and non-technical staff.
Key central resource to act as the liaison between Epic and IT to coordinate and facilitate data and system administration activities and issues. This includes working with complex issues where analysis of situations and data requires an in-depth evaluation of variables and the exercise of good judgment in selecting methods and techniques and evaluation criteria for obtaining results.
Helps to set-up new system account access for new users and applies appropriate permission levels. Also, coordinates the service catalog algorithms for the new users. Documentation of processes will need to be maintained.
Ensure that all system and manual back-up procedures are functioning as designed. The Principal Decision Support Analyst must be well-versed in the back-up and recovery process and be prepared to assist in all recovery activities.
Investigate reconciliation issues with hospital statistics to source systems as well as other financial reconciliations.
Required qualifications for this position include:
Bachelor's degree in information systems, accounting, business, finance or equivalent work experience.
5 years of experience in information systems administration, cost accounting, healthcare decision support, financial analysis or healthcare reimbursement, with at least two years of experience in planning & project management experience.
Extensive experience with SQL, Crystal, Access or similar relational databases.
Preferred qualifications for this position include:
- Experience with EPIC application or interface files.
