Providence St. Joseph Health is calling a Lean Six Sigma Black Belt to our locations in OR, WA, CA, AK, TX, MT, NM only.

We are seeking a Lean Six Sigma Black Belt to identify opportunities for workflow and process re-engineering across Revenue Cycle by application of Operational Excellence. Apply standard tools and methodologies in lean, six sigma, change acceleration, and facilitated work outs that result in significant and documented enhanced performance in revenue cycle service delivery.
The Lean Six Sigma Black Belt is able to motivate, energize and execute change initiatives, and serves as change facilitator, internal consultant, tool mentor, drives OE principles, concepts and projects on an ongoing basis. Interfaces with and throughout Revenue Cycle and key stakeholders on a consistent basis to integrate OE tools, resources, training and support to meet Revenue Cycle objectives.
The Lean Six Sigma Black Belt will advocate with all levels of the organization for new ways of doing things, challenge conventional wisdom by introducing and demonstrating proven strategies. The individual will coach others on the value of using the tools and the impact of having optimal systems to support Revenue Cycle target achievements in cash acceleration, revenue uplift, and key performance indicators
The Lean Six Sigma Black Belt will perform all duties in a manner that promotes the Providence St. Joseph Health mission, values, and philosophy. In all aspects, serves as a role model for the values and mission of the organization.
In this position you will:
Provide consultation in the assessment, development, implementation and maintenance of processes that affect the Revenue Cycle service delivery model
Train, coach and mentor Green Belts and Program Management caregivers in Operational Excellence methodology. Demonstrate proficiency in using data tools and lean and DMAIC methodologies
Actively support and incorporate the mission and core values into daily activities. Treat all others with respect and demonstrates excellence, justice and compassion in daily work and relationships with others
Work with Revenue Cycle Program Management leadership team to design, implement, and manage Operational Excellence Project systems and structures: project funnel, scoping, monitoring and reporting, dashboards to monitor performance, and training sessions
Educate/coach key stakeholders, Sponsors, Process Owners on OE philosophy, CAP, Work-Out, Lean and Six Sigma content, roles and execution requirements. Prepares training materials for all education sessions and handles all training logistics with administrative support. Trains and mentors Green Belts and Lean Practitioners on Operational Excellence projects. Assists Green Belts in all elements of Operational Excellence project completion
Ensure methodology and process are followed and documentation is complete, with deadlines met. Ensures key metrics are defined, developed and tracked. Oversees development and completion of projects based on customer needs and business impact. Identifies and helps eliminate roadblocks or barriers to Operational Excellence project efforts while promoting harmonious relationships which are consistent with the program goals and objectives
Identify and advise leadership of potential process re-engineering and key initiatives that result in significant improvements to revenue cycle service delivery and performance, increasing organizational effectiveness
Maintain knowledge regarding current developments and/or best practices in operational excellence, including tools and lean methodologies
Act as both technical and cultural change agent for organizational process improvement
Required qualifications for this position include:
Bachelor's Degree in Business Administration, Finance, Healthcare Administration or equivalent educ/experience
SIX SIGMA BLACK BELT CERTIFICATION upon hire
More than 10 years experience leading Six Sigma (DMAIC)/Lean projects
Experience applying and integrating Lean tools within process improvement projects
Excellent collaboration and team building skills
Proven ability to work flexible hours and travel regularly for business
Proven skills in organizing and planning with demonstrated ability to effectively manage time and achieve results in a fast paced environment
Track record in taking initiative, working with minimal supervision and being self directed and highly motivated in all work activities
Demonstrated ability to review revenue cycle reports, and communicate trends and opportunities for improvement
Preferred qualifications for this position include:
- Master’s degree in Business Administration, Finance, Healthcare Administration
