Providence Health & Services Mental Health Specialist - Inpatient Child/Adolescent in Oregon City, Oregon
Providence is calling a Mental Health Specialist (0.6 FTE) to the Child & Adolescent Psychiatric Unit (CAPU) at our Providence Willamette Falls Medical Center in Oregon City, OR.
Our Mental Health Specialists are integral members of the interdisciplinary team that consists of Psychiatrists, Mental Health Therapists, Social Workers, Nurses and more. In collaboration with the treatment team, the Mental Health Specialists works with the children and adolescents on meeting their treatment plan goals through group co-facilitation and milieu support.
This position is a non-exempt position with hourly based pay. The schedule will be for 48 hours every 2 weeks. One week, the schedule is Wednesday, Friday, Saturday and Sunday. The second week the schedule is Thursday and Friday. The shift is from 3pm - 11:30pm and comes with a shift differential.
In this position, you will:
Work with other members of inpatient unit staff to provide patient care in a variety of job duties, and under the direct supervison of the Registered Nurse (RN), the Mental Health Professional Therapist, or the inpatient unit manager or director.
Provide hospital level and focused patient care, support, and milieu management for patients with behavioral health conditions and illness.
Observe and report on patient conditions under the direction of an RN or other designated clinical staff.
Be responsible for and/or supports the daily and various therapeutic activities care of the patients.
Collaborate with the multi-disciplinary treatment team in the initial developing and modification of treatment care plans both during the admission process and during the in-patient hospitalization.

Required qualifications for this position include:
Bachelor of Arts (BA) -or- Bachelor of Science (BS) degree in social science fields (social work, sociology, psychology or other related field)
American Heart Association Basic Life Support (AHA-BLS) Provider certification. Re-certification required every 2 years.
2 years of experience in an acute or residential inpatient psychiatric facility in a similar role. Applicable internship or practicum experience may be applied towards required years of experience.
Strong written and verbal communication, organization, and problem solving skills
Preferred qualifications for this position include:
- Experience in a child or adolescent psychiatric environment
