Providence Health & Services Certified Nursing Assistant 2 - Short Stay Surgical Unit in Oregon City, Oregon


Providence is calling a Certified Nursing Assistant 2 - Short Stay Surgical Unit (1.0 FTE, Rotating/Variable) to Providence Willamette Falls Medical Center in Oregon City, OR.

You will work 8-hour shifts in this position and most will be 11:30am - 8pm.

We are seeking a Certified Nursing Assistant 2 to assist the lead/staff nurse, nursing supervisor and unit manager in planning, implementing and evaluating the activities in the nursing department. Function as a member of the nursing team by observing cardiac telemetry monitor and reporting cardiac arrhythmias to the registered nurse. Prepare, compile and maintain patient records.

In this position you will have the following responsibilities:

  • Provide direct patient care within scope of practice by assisting RN and other team members:

  • Collect and documents data about patients.

  • Report observations/information regarding patient care/condition to RN in a timely manner.

  • Assist with transportation of patients, supplies, specimens, etc. as requested.

  • Respond to identified patient emergencies following leader's direction to assure timely and effective response.

  • Inform oncoming staff of unfinished or incomplete tasks/treatments or unmet patient/family needs.

  • Provide for comfort and safety of patient.

  • Facilitate efficient patient care through designated task:

  • Answer unit telephone and intercom immediately.

  • Inform team members of patient requests, phone calls and special orders.

  • Responsible for all desk activities such as locating charts and copying papers.

  • Stock patient care supplies as appropriate.

  • Maintain sufficient quantity of forms, supplies and assembled charts.

  • Assist Environmental Services as necessary.

  • Accurately manage and prioritize physician orders and clinical information.

  • Notify ancillary departments when appropriate.

  • Maintain knowledge and/or competency in use of unit specific equipment/procedures:

  • Unit specific computer applications.

  • Video monitoring (ED, M/S, ICU, The Birth Center).

  • Cardiac telemetry (ED, M/S, ICU).

  • HOSCAP (ED).

  • Participate in patient safety and quality improvement initiatives.

  • Advance professional image through professional development:

  • Participate in unit meetings and activities.

  • Complete unit/PH&S continuing education.


Required q ualifications for this position include:

  • High school Diploma or equivalent

  • Completion of Oregon State Board of Nursing (OSBN) recognized Acute Care Certified Nursing Assistant 2 (CNA2) course, or "grandfathered" to CNA2 per OSBN requirements

  • Active and unencumbered license in the state of Oregon as Certified Nursing Assistant (CNA)

  • Current Basic Life Support (BLS) upon hire.

  • Telemetry Certification or equivalent completed within 6 months of hire, if asked by the department.

Preferred q ualifications for this position include:

  • 1 year of experience as a CNA 2
