Providence is calling a Surgical Technologist (0.9 FTE, Day shft) to work in the Surgery at Providence St. Peter Hospital in Olympia, WA

The Surgical Technologist will be under the supervision and direction of the Perioperative Nurse, collaborates with OR team in providing efficient, safe, cost effective patient care outcomes. The OR Technician will be proficient in all specialties and will take call as scheduled.
In this position you will:
Provide safe, efficient scrubbing technique for all specialties
Facilitate the availability of supplies, and properly maintained equipment and Instruments for surgical cases
Provide sterile instrumentation for surgical cases
Maintain a quiet environment during induction of anesthetic and waking the patient
Acknowledge concerns of patient while they are awake
Recognize patient anxiety, and help decrease stimulation
Ensure a sterile field is set up and maintained throughout each surgical case by implementation of aseptic technique and Body Substance Isolation (BSI)
Provide safe care to patient and provides safe environment for personnel in the OR suite
Ensure integrity of pathology specimen for transport to Pathology
Ensure proper maintenance of equipment and instrumentation
Ensure all instrumentation is accounted for at end of case
Ensure safety of Sterile Processing Department personnel when sending down case carts
Identify performance improvement concerns with team members
Maintain Patient Confidentiality
Adhere to hospital system requirements for Patient Rights and Confidentiality
Perform duties in Support Roles
Supports staff for lunches and breaks
Provides competent care appropriate to the patient population
Locate and acquire all supplies and equipment needed to complete case carts
Pick PPDs accurately and efficiently for next day scheduled surgery
