Providence Health & Services Respiratory Therapy Assistant - Respiratory Therapy in Olympia, Washington
Providence is calling a Respiratory Therapy Assistant (Per Diem, Day Shift) to Providence St. Peter Hospital in Olympia, WA.
We are seeking a Respiratory Therapy Assistant who uses initiative and independent judgment to assist Respiratory Therapists who provide preventative and restorative care to patients with breathing problems or cardiopulmonary disorders.
In this position you will:
Initiate and assist patients and families with incentive spirometry in PACU, ER, and in patient rooms as requested by a physician. Monitor and chart patient oxygen throughout the hospital according to O2 PDP.
Collect and process soiled equipment for washing, pasteurization and cold sterilization including bronchoscopes and specialty intubation equipment.
Set up and transport bilevel devices and ventilators to various areas of the hospital. Perform operation checks prior to making the ventilator available for the next use.
Participate in departmental activities through data collection and evaluation; participate in problem solving activities and report required data to the manager on a periodic basis.
Required qualifications for this position include:
High School Diploma or equivalent
AHA Basic Life Support (BLS) Certification
Current experience with respiratory care and equipment
Current knowledge of basic medical terminology
Preferred qualifications for this position include:
Advanced Cardiovascular Life Support (ACLS) certification within 18 months of hire
Proficiency with computers and clinical applications
