Providence Health & Services Music Thanatologist - Spiritual Care Chaplains in Olympia, Washington

Providence is looking for a Music Thanatologist to work in a hospital setting at various locations including Everett and Olympia Wa. Openings include full-time, part-time and per-diem (on-call) positions as well as multiple shifts.

We are looking for a Music Thanatologist to minister in partnership with Chaplains and other team members to assist in providing for the needs of the terminally ill and their families.

In this position you will:

  • Provide prescriptive music vigils with harp and voice, to address the spiritual, physical, and emotional needs to palliative care and dying patients throughout the continuum of care.

  • Provide education about music-thanatology to staff and community

  • Perform duties in a manner consistent within the Spiritual Care. Department and reflects the Sisters of Providence mission and philosophy.

Qualifications:

Required qualifications for this position include:

  • Certification by Music Thanatology Association International (MTAI) within two years of hire, including proficiency in harp, voice and the prescriptive process

Preferred qualifications for this position include:

  • Successful completion of a music thanatology training program (i.e.Chalice of Repose or Lane Community College)

  • Four year undergraduate degree from an accredited school
