Providence Health & Services Medical Technologist in Olympia, Washington
Providence is calling a Medical Technologist (1.0 FTE, Nights/Evenings) to St Peter Hospital in Olympia, WA.
We are seeking a laboratorian to perform the essential laboratory testing that is critical to the detection, diagnosis, and treatment of disease.
Schedule: predominantly night shift with potential rotating evenings.
In this position you will:
Plan, perform and evaluate routine and complex laboratory tests in your assigned department(s), which could include: hematology, coagulation, urinalysis, chemistry, toxicology/special chemistry, microbiology, and/or immunohematology (blood bank).
Responsible for planning, performing, and evaluating laboratory testing analysis and quality control.
Maintain communications with physicians, patients, other hospital personnel, professional associations, and other organizations. Operate instruments and perform maintenance function checks and trouble-shoot.
Required qualifications for this position include:
Bachelor's degree in Science, Medical Technology or related field, and certification or eligible for certification by ASCP or equivalent body or An Associates of Arts degree in Science with a minimum 16 hours of in chemistry and biology and three semester hours of math or computer science and completion of an accredited medical technology program and certification or eligible for certification by ASCP, AMT, or NCA.
If certified or eligible for certification by AMT or NCA with an AA degree, applicant must have a minimum of 5 years’ experience in a clinical laboratory environment.
Preferred qualifications for this position include:
- Experience in a moderate- or highly-complex medical laboratory
