The HME Homecare Tech 1 is responsible for providing home medical equipment according to physician orders in a variety of living situations including private residences and long term care facilities. This position is accountable for the safe use of home medical equipment through evaluation of the living environment and education of patients, caregivers, and clinicians on the correct use and function of equipment provided. This is a patient facing position that functions independently.

This position performs home environmental safety inspections to include safe access into the home, safe use of equipment in a multi-level home, safe use of supplemental oxygen in living environment including smoke detectors, and working electrical outlets. Reviews the disaster preparedness instruction pamphlet and patient rights and responsibilities with the patient/caregiver. Performs customer service functions and facilitates minor equipment repairs. Follows The Joint Commission, Oregon State Health Administration, and Oregon Department of Transportation and Washington Department of Transportation regulatory guidelines and completes all required documentation.

Providence HME provides a variety of home medical equipment to support a "hospital at home" setting, including oxygen systems, respiratory equipment, hospital beds and mobility equipment for patients who require medical equipment to recuperate and function in a home setting post hospitalization and for management life limiting illnesses.

Required qualifications:

  • Upon request: Driving may be necessary as part of this role. Caregivers are required to comply with all state laws and requirements for driving. Caregivers will be expected to provide proof of driver license and auto insurance upon request. See policy for additional information.

Preferred qualifications:

  • 1 year experience in the home medical equipment industry

  • 1 year experience in customer service

Providence Home and Community Care (HCC) is a service line within Providence with over 8,000 caregivers and 2,000 volunteers serving nearly 200,000 people a year, in their homes, in clinics and in a variety of congregate living ministries across our seven-state footprint.
