Providence Health & Services Licensed Electrician Sr - Plant Operations in Olympia, Washington

Providence is calling a Licensed Electrician Sr. (1.0 FTE, 40 hours per week Day Shift) to Plant Operations at Providence St. Peter Hospital in Olympia, Washington.

The Licensed Electrician Sr. is responsible for critical hospital electrical and life safety systems including operation, repair, maintenance, renovation, troubleshooting and testing. This role helps provide comfort, safety and security to patients, caregivers and the public through diligent, professional and energy efficient approaches to the hospital electrical distribution systems up to 12,470 volts.

In this position you will:

  • Troubleshoot, test and diagnose problems and malfunctions of electrical components including circuits, breakers, controls, motors, lighting, machinery, equipment, metering, power quality and have successful history of such.

  • Install new and repair existing components, conduit, breakers, fuses, disconnects, switches, receptacles, controls, wiring, lighting, motor control centers, motors, switchboards, variable frequency drives, programmable logic controllers and interruptible power sources efficiently/ effectively and per NEC, NFPA and authorities having jurisdiction.

  • Oversee applications and call for inspections with authorities having jurisdiction, familiar with electrical codes, principles that support electrical systems and use of handbooks and reference material

  • Able to read and interpret Schematics, blueprints, technical manuals, shop directives, diagrams, meters, gauges, testing equipment relative to electrical components and equipment. Adept at use and interpretation of testing equipment.

  • Familiar with automation controls and systems related to BAS. Able to navigate and understand basic control of BAS equipment. Installation of wiring and devices for control and automation systems

  • Know locations of and able to navigate control function of Fire Alarm panels. Be able to identify system types and locations. Be able to assist with code red events and drills, related construction activities and responding to trouble alarms and deficiencies. Be able to trouble shoot system grounds and shorts. Maintains confidence testing regulatory PM’s

  • Emergency Power Supply Systems-Knowledgeable operation, testing, minor repair and maintenance of diesel generators, Automatic Transfer Switches, switchgear and associated fuel system. Maintains regulatory PM’s per Hospital Accreditation Standards.

  • Preventative Maintenance – O&M specifications, inspection, cleaning, lubricating, adjusting, tagging, labeling of electrical and mechanical plant equipment and other mechanical spaces.

  • Safety/Jobsite/Mechanical Spaces - Proper LOTO and PPE required. Awareness of confined space, asbestos and arc flash protocols. Responsible for cleanliness, access control measures and procedures related to electrical work. Able to create planned electrical shutdown sequencing.

  • Communication – Actively manages work assignments and communication with impacted hospital departments and leadership. Actively participates and in plant, department, construction and event meetings. Fosters collaboration and able to provide applicable training to support other caregiver team members. Effective verbal and written communication skills.

Qualifications:

Required qualifications for this position include:

  • H.S. Diploma or GED

  • Completion of electrical trade school or journeyman electrical trade status

  • Five (5) years experience in commercial electrical field or utility plant operation

  • 01 Electrical license based on Washington State requirements

Preferred qualifications for this position include:

  • Two (2) years hospital/healthcare experience

  • Familiarity with Apogee BAS and Simplex Fire Alarm
