Providence Health & Services Facility Safety Officer - Compliance in Olympia, Washington
Providence is calling a Facility Safety Officer for a full-time, day shift position to work in Facility Services at Providence St. Peter Hospital in Olympia, WA
The Facility Safety Officer (FSO) is responsible for ensuring the Environment of Care program addresses all occupational, life safety and environmental safety needs of Providence Centralia Hospital, Providence St. Peter Hospital and their off-campus provider-based sites. The FSO ensures compliance with all relevant regulatory requirements and is responsible for the development, implementation and administration of policies that establish a safe work environment.
In this position you will:
Demonstrate comprehensive knowledge of workplace and organizational safety principles and regulations.
Possess knowledge of Washington State Department of Health (DOH), Centers for Medicare and Medicaid (CMS) and Joint Commission (JC) standards and regulations related to safety.
Translate regulations to the organization and achieve cooperation from administrators, managers and staff in meeting identified needs and achieving compliance.
Provide leadership, management and coordination of the Safety Management Plans and programs including over sight of the Hazardous Materials program and maintains documentation of compliance with the plans.
Required qualifications for this position include:
Bachelor's Degree in Safety or Occupational and Environmental Health, Public Health, or related fields or equivalent educ/experience. Work experience in facility safety and/or environment of care management may be substituted for education on a year for year basis.
3 years recent experience in a health care setting as a facility safety officer, industrial hygienist, or coordinating environment of care and safety programs.
Preferred qualifications for this position include:
Master's degree in Occupational, Environmental Health, Public Health, or related field.
5 years recent experience in health care setting including project management, and/or patient and organizational safety.
