Providence Health & Services Crisis Services Counselor - Psychiatric Emergency Services in Olympia, Washington

Providence is calling a Crisis Service Counselor (0.9 FTE, 36 hours per week Variable) to work in Psychiatric Emergency Services at Providence Saint Peter Hospital in Olympia, WA.

The Crisis Service Counselor is a professional who provide crisis management; intervention; an emergent clinical evaluation; information; follow-up referrals; and discharge planning to patients and families who present in the Emergency Center with a wide variety of psychiatric, chemical addiction, and psych-social problems.

In this position you will:

  • Perform crisis triage

  • Lead interaction to maintain safety on the unit and elsewhere in the hospital as required

  • Perform clinical crisis evaluation

  • Provide competent care appropriate to the patient population Pediatric, Adolescent, Adult, Older Adult

  • Determine immediate plan of care and implements disposition of patient

  • Provide sensitivity with cultural and religious beliefs

  • Comply with standards when delivering and documenting patient care

  • Recognize the signs of abuse and reports as appropriate

  • Possess and demonstrate clinically relevant legal knowledge

  • Identify role and responsibility in complying with facility and unit specific safety and security policies, plans and procedures

  • Acquire Insurance Pre-authorization when necessary

  • Comply with facility and unit specific infection control, risk management and OSHA guidelines and procedures

  • Participate in professional growth

  • Perform specific business functions

  • Support the team process

  • Set priorities and organizes time

  • Maintain congenial relationships

  • Adhere to facility and department confidentiality policies

Qualifications:

Required qualifications for this position includes:

  • Master’s degree in Social Work, Human Services or Psychosocial/Mental Health Field

  • Must have one of the following licenses

  • Licensed Mental Health Counselor (LMHC) or

  • Licensed Mental Health Counselor Associate (LMHCA) Licensed Marriage and Family Therapist (LMFT) or

  • Licensed Marriage and Family Therapist Associate (LMFTA) or

  • Licensed Independent Clinical Social Worker (LICSW) or

  • Licensed Independent Clinical Social Worker Associate (LICSWA) -or-

  • Agency Affiliated Counselor Certification - within six (6) months of hire

  • American Heart Association (AHA) - Basic Life Support (BLS) upon hire

  • One (1) year of Clinical crisis evaluation and intervention in an acute psychiatric setting with an emphasis on quick assessment skills
