Providence Health & Services CNA - Intermediate Care Unit *1,500 Sign-On Bonus* in Olympia, Washington

Description:

Providence is calling a Certified Nursing Assistant (0.9 FTE, Night Shift) to Intermediate Care Unit (IMCU) at Providence St. Peter Hospital in Olympia, Washington.

For External Caregivers Only: This position offers a 1,500 Sign-On Bonus, 750 upon start, 750 at the completion of 12 months of employment.

The Certified Nurse Assistant provides nursing care, respiratory care, splinting, and patient support services in a hospital unit under the direction of the Clinical Manager

In this position you will:

  • Demonstrate application of knowledge, skills, and behaviors in the physical, motor/sensory, cognitive, psychosocial, patient and family education areas based on PSPH age specific care competency assessment tool

  • Take and record vital signs; height; weight; food and fluid intake and output; and finger sticks for blood sugar checks; report and documentation

  • Recognize and report abnormal signs and symptoms, maintains a safe environment for patients

  • Bathe, dress, and feed patients; respond to call lights

  • Assist with communication and reports patients’ concerns

  • Orient patients to rooms, unit routines and any equipment necessary for care (call lights, plexipulses, etc.)

  • Unit and regulatory tasks routinely completed

  • Respond to all patient call lights when available

  • Assist co-workers on the unit and participate as an active member of the patient care team

  • Record and report information and concerns to appropriate staff

  • Maintain and improve competencies, education, training, attending staff meetings, seminars, in-services to ensure the development and implementation and understanding of departmental policies, procedures and performance improvement processes

  • Hourly rounds; use AIDET (acknowledge, introduce, duration, explanation, and thank you) with each new interaction

  • Successfully complete annual skills fair requirements

  • Utilize safety and lift equipment to prevent work related injuries

  • Confidential information and conversations are secured from general public access

  • Ensure all faxes and other communications adhere to applicable policies and federal regulations

  • Maintain full knowledge of HIPAA regulations

  • Willingly accept projects and work assignments as assigned by manager

Qualifications:

Required qualifications for this position include:

  • Valid State of Washington Nursing Assistant Certification (without restrictions)

  • AHA or Military Basic Life Support (BLS)

  • Medical Assistant Registration (MA-R) required within 6 months of hire for emergency center and surgical / perioperative units only. NOTE: Certified Nursing Assistants employed at Providence St. Peter Hospital on or before June 30, 2013, may have Medical Assistant Phlebotomist Certification (MA-P) in lieu of MA-R

Preferred qualifications for this position include:

  • High School diploma or GED

  • Six (6) months working as a Certified Nursing Assistant in a healthcare setting, long-term care or similar environment
