Providence is calling a RN - Newberg Oncology Clinic (0.6 FTE, Days) to Providence Medical Group located in Newberg, OR
We are seeking a Clinic RN that will provide direct quality care for those patient requiring infusion therapy, blood and component transfusion, and chemotherapy on an outpatient basis. Provides care according to the individualized needs of the patient using the nursing process and in accordance with the Nurse Practice Act. May require the RN to be responsible for the assessment, treatment of care of patients including adult and geriatric. RN must be competent to analyze patient data with an understanding of the cognitive, physical, emotional/psychosocial, spiritual, and chronological maturation process. Accepts professional development as an integral part of nursing practice. Coordinates patient care activities with other members of the health care team in a collegial relationship. Advises clinic project team on start up clinic processes and policies and procedures.
In this position you will have the following responsibilities:
Provide a comprehensive patient assessment
Provide phone advice support to clinic. Knowledgeable in oncology symptoms and therapies
Perform procedures and treatments according to accepted clinic standards
Monitor patient condition, notes changes in status, utilizes judgment and takes appropriate action
Accurately and concisely document patient care activities and information
Provide quality care in an efficient, cost effective manner
Demonstrate advancement of professional nursing practice through clinic activities or continuing education
Demonstrate and apply required skill sets and clinical knowledge/practice in a patient care setting as follows:
• Proper IV skills and central line care
• Proper administration of varied IV infusions as ordered, inc. chemotherapy
• The ability to utilize excellent psychosocial interventions in caring for patients
• Knowledge of cancer and the management and support of newly diagnosed patients
• Include patient/family teaching as part of the discharge planning process
• The ability to provide quality nursing care for patients exhibiting a wide variety of systemic pathophysiology
• Administration of medications, treatments, mixing of chemo drugs for IV therapy, tracking inventory and patient discharge
• Respond to emergent/crisis situations utilizing all available equipment to assist in stabilization of patient
• Demonstrate sound pharmacological knowledge
• Assess desired/unexpected post-medication outcome, notify doctor and treat accordingly
• Ability to work in a team atmosphere
• Provide advice and expertise around patient care practices, safety and policies and procedures
Work effectively and collaboratively with pharm techs, pharmacists, physicians, and nurse practitioners to deliver timely and quality patient care. Assures smooth patient hand-offs between care team members
Serve as a patient advocate in navigating a variety of care options and services
Required qualifications for this position include:
Nursing degree/diploma required upon hire
Unencumbered License to practice nursing in the State of Oregon
ONS Chemotherapy/Biotherapy Certification required within 4 months of hire
OCN Certification required when eligible - within three (3) years of hire
Preferred qualifications for this position include:
- Bachelors degree in Nursing encouraged to obtain within 3 years of hire
