The Administrator provides leadership and strategic direction for the business, services and care delivery at Providence Benedictine Nursing Center and its related programs. Manages a diverse portfolio of services including skilled nursing facility, assisted living and a child development center.

  5. Ensuring the financial strength of PBNC by balancing limited reimbursement with efficient management of costs and growth of revenue-generating programs.

  6. Working in a large matrix organization.


The Administrator, Providence Benedictine Nursing Center will:

  • Provide leadership, guidance, and strategic direction to help ensure the successful operation and continued growth of PBNC programs.

  • Provide operational direction for effective, efficient and high quality operations of all the different service lines within PBNC.

  • Recruit, develop, supervise and maintain a quality leadership team at PBNC to enhance the quality of services and programs, and to maintain positive, supportive relationships with staff.

  • Collaborate with Finance Manager in the development and administration of annual and capital budgets for all of PBNC programs to ensure quality services are delivered within available resources and that maintains the viability of the programs. Establish effective budget management objective that directs the utilization of resources and meets the commitment of the annual budget.

  • Direct ongoing quality improvement measures throughout all programs and departments to maintain high quality services, improve clinical outcomes, and identify opportunities for improvement.

  • Provide leadership for the implementation, utilization, and enhancement of employee satisfaction measures, and effective recruitment and retention practices.

  • Direct the customer satisfaction program to help ensure the rights and needs of patients and residents are consistently met.

  • Act as licensed Administrator for the nursing center ensuring compliance with all applicable State and Federal regulations. Provide appropriate notice in the event of a facility closure. Act as representative to licensing and surveying agencies.

  • Actively participate in the SNF/AL Leadership Council with other Administrators and SNF/AL leaders in all Providence regions.

  • Responsible for completing ministry performance reports for finance, retention, and other operational priorities, using the service line template and forums as directed.

  • Actively participate in the PBNC Foundation Board. Work closely and collaboratively with the Foundation Director to coordinate Foundation work that supports PBNC programs.

  • Provides leadership in the development of ongoing productive relationships with State regulatory agencies, business associations, local legislative bodies and the public to further the PBNC standing in the community.

  • Direct planning the course of Benedictine in the context of Division strategies including the evaluation of external markets, developing and recommending long range plans, and operational objectives and informing leadership of trends and condition that affect Benedictine's position and success.

  • Direct all activities aimed at program growth including marketing to develop programs to gain improved market share and take advantage of new business opportunities. Lead the development of business plans in response to new market opportunities.

  • Maintain current knowledge of trends and developments in the field of long-term care, and health care delivery and funding. Participate in industry and community activities to enhance visibility, networking, and relationships with others in the field.

  • Provide direction and oversight of the Medical Director contract. Ensure key functions are carried out and that annual review of the contract and performance is complete.

  • Participate in Providence professional and personal development training activities.


Required experience/education for this position include:

  • Bachelor's Degree in Health Care Administration, Business or related field

  • Current Nursing Home Administrator license in the State of Oregon

  • In compliance with the Department of Human Services (DHS) a criminal background check is required for this position

  • 7 years of progressive leadership experience in health care preferably with a long term care facility that includes:

  • Healthcare services development, delivery, and operations.

  • Experience in developing and manage budgets, monitoring expenses and determining resource allocations.

  • Supervision of staff.

  • Dealing with the public agencies.

  • Knowledge of regulations regarding nursing homes, assisted living, home health and hospice.

  • Knowledge of Medicare/Medicaid.

  • Knowledge of strategic planning principles and processes.

  • Demonstrated knowledge of budgeting and sound business practices.

  • Ability to plan, organize and prioritize resources and to manage multiple high priority demands to achieve the organization's goals and objectives.

  • Ability to work effectively in a team environment and effectively direct the activities of senior level managers.

  • Strong planning, organizational and conceptual abilities.

  • Ability to communicate effectively both orally and in writing to compel others to take action or to effectively represent all programs.

  • Ability to establish effective working relationships with diverse individuals and groups.

  • Ability to advocate for the services and needs of PBNC in public forums.

  • Ability to problem solve and provide leadership in addressing difficult management and institutional issues.

  • Ability to serve as a catalyst for encouraging and motivating creative approaches to ongoing challenges.

Preferred experience/education for this position include:

  • Master's Degree.
