Providence Health & Services Registrar in Missoula, Montana
Providence is calling a Registrar (0.9 FTE, Days) to St. Patrick Hospital in Missoula, MT.
We are seeking a Registrar to be responsible for securing appropriate patient account reimbursement by obtaining complex demographic, insurance and medical information and ensuring this is documented timely and accurately, and to consistently provide superior customer service that meets or exceeds the expectations of patients, visitors, physicians and PHS staff, including during periods of high patient volumes or stressful situations.
In this position you will have the following responsibilities:
Creating a consistent and exceptional patient experience throughout the patient interview process.
Assess patient ability to complete the admission process prior to receiving services or going to their hospital rooms; in some instances, may require bedside registration.
Alert clinical staff if patients need immediate attention.
Ensure patients are registered in a timely manner, ensuring accounts are complete, compliant, and billable and do not require rework or intervention.
Provides armbands in a timely manner and verifies all information on the armband with patient to ensure accuracy.
Request, collect and document co-pays from patients effectively and efficiently within EMTALA guidelines where applies.
Required qualifications for this position include:
H.S. Diploma or GED.
1 year experience in customer service or healthcare registration.
Preferred qualifications for this position include:
Some college level course work preferred particularly Medical Terminology or Medical Assistant coursework.
Previous registrar and third party payor experience.
Basic knowledge of insurance and managed care payors, healthcare registration, Medicare Secondary Payor, EMTALA and ABN.
Certified Healthcare Access Associate (CHAA) or Certified Revenue Cycle Specialist (CRCS) is preferred.
