Providence Health & Services Radiology Technologist in Mission Hills, California

Description:

Providence is calling a Part Time, Variable Shift Radiology Technologist to Providence Holy Cross Medical Center in Mission Hills, CA.

We are seeking a Radiology Technologist that will perform various diagnostic radiographic procedures according to accepted department protocols and hospital policy and procedure.

In this position you will have the following responsibilities:

  • Follow Universal Protocol at all times to ensure correct patient, correct procedure, and correct side

  • Maintain established department policies, procedures, improving organization performance program, patient/customer safety, environmental and infection control standards

  • Perform radiographic procedures; obtains patient history, prepares patient for the exam, explains exam, and ensures patient cooperation and safety during the procedure

  • Prepare written documentation as required by the department, such as evaluation results, progress and other reports, stat readings, and checks

  • Check patient chart or prescription for correctness of orders, checks with radiologist or nurse as needed for quality patient care

  • Recognize adverse reactions and contraindications, and acts accordingly

  • Complete paperwork and billing functions; verify and sign off inpatient orders, complete ITS functions, requests and completes master jackets and appropriate insert

  • Select and operats appropriate equipment

  • Check equipment, supplies, and accessories on a regular basis. Maintain orderliness and cleanliness of work areas

  • Enhance professional growth and development through participation in educational programs, current literature, in service meetings, and workshops

  • Attend meetings as required

  • Operate mammography, sterotatic, and ultrasound equipment. Sets up patient and records quality assurance data. Performs quality assurance testing and maintains records (4,5,6,7,8)

  • Assists medical staff during special procedures (4,5,6,7,8)

  • Radiology Tech

  • Acts as patient educator prior to catheterization to explain procedure and answers questions; explains steps during the procedure. Maintain records of examination data and other pertinent information on patients (2)

  • Develop film including duplication and evaluating film for technical quality

  • Transport patients to radiographic room; prepares and maintains rooms (4,5,6,7,8)

  • Train other technologists in day to day procedures

  • The performance of this function is the reason that the job exists

  • This function is highly specialized. Employees are hired for the skill/ability to perform this

  • Failure to perform this function may have serious consequences.

  • Demonstrate proficiency and participates in continuing education to provide care to infants

  • Demonstrates proficiency and participates in continuing education to provide care to adolescents

  • Demonstrate proficiency and participates in continuing education to provide care to adults

  • Demonstrate proficiency and participates in continuing education to provide care to geriatrics

  • Demonstrate proficiency and participates in continuing education to provide care to pediatrics

Qualifications:

Required qualifications for this position include:

  • Current BLS-HCP – Basic Life Support - for Healthcare Providers - American Heart

  • Association (AHA) or American Red Cross (ARC) - CPR/AED for Professional

  • Rescuer accepted on hire until card expiration date

  • Current CRT with fluoro certification preceded by the prefix RHF required as of 01/01/09. Fluoro certification required within 60 days of hire

  • Note: Employees hired prior to 01/01/09 who do not have this certification are grandfathered and will not perform functions in areas requiring this certification

  • Must be knowledgeable of daylight processing systems

  • Must be knowledgeable of CR (Computerized Radiography), PACS (Picture Archival and Communication System) & RIS/HIS (Radiology & Hospital Information System)
