Providence is calling a Patient Services Manager (Full-Time/Day Shift) to Providence Holy Cross Medical Center in Mission Hills, CA.

We are seeking a Patient Services Manager who will lead, plan, and administer activities related to patient/resident nutrition care including patient clinical nutrition services and management of patient food service operations complying with regulatory agency and Providence Health & Services standards. Establish and maintain effective working relationships with other departments to provide a unified approach to patient/resident care. Take responsibility for operation of the Food and Nutrition Service's Department in the absence of the Director of Hospitality Services.

In this position you will:

  • Coordinate activities of registered dietitians and the diet office, ensuring unit goals and objectives are obtained and policies and procedures are enforced. Review and evaluate existing operational methods and procedures for effectiveness and efficiency, initiating changes as necessary to ensure compliance with federal, state, county and Providence regulations and policies.

  • Collaboratively work with the dietitians, diet office, tray line, and supervisory staff to refine and develop new programs, processes and practices to achieve high standards and best practices to meet the vision, standards, budgets, benchmarking and goals of the organization for clinical nutrition care and patient food services.

  • Develop, manage and direct patient dining services including the menu ordering process, tray assembly and/or delivery, safety, sanitation, quality, and patient dining relations. Develop and implement practices, policies and procedures for patient dining services.

  • Manage to ensure high quality in a customer-oriented environment. Monitor, coach and mentor dietitians, supervisory, diet office and tray line caregivers to meet high levels of performance and accountability.

  • Monitor performance to ensure the serving and delivery of patient food meets expected time frames, is therapeutically accurate, correctly portioned, attractively presented with good flavor and high quality products while meeting standards for courteous service/interactions.

  • Lead the development, evaluation, and implementation of patient menus. Ensure the service and delivery of quality food/beverage is accurate and meets the therapeutic dietary needs of patients.

  • Monitor patient/guest/nursing satisfaction of food quality, temperature, presentation and service to ensure high levels of customer satisfaction are achieved and maintained. Address areas of concern and develops and implements plans to improve outcomes.

  • Complete the investigation of unusual occurrence reports, addresses concerns and resolves the problem by communicating and implementing practice changes and addressing performance issues.

  • Monitor and maintain a safe and sanitary environment for patients and food and nutrition service’s staff.

  • Manage and achieve financial and operational budgetary goals/guidelines, benchmarks, productivity targets and patient satisfaction goals for area of responsibility.

  • Hire, orient, discipline, evaluate and discharge employees in area of responsibility.

  • Conduct in-service training for caregivers, mandatory education, department specific education and training.

  • Organize and provide information and education to caregivers on quality and survey results on a quarterly basis.

Qualifications:

Required qualifications for this position include:

  • Bachelor's Degree in Food and Nutrition Science or Dietetics.

  • Registered Dietitian (RD) with the Commission on Dietetic Registration

  • 3 years experience as a clinical dietitian in an acute healthcare setting.

  • Experience using personal computers and standard office software applications such as Outlook, Word, and Excel.

  • Broad knowledge of JCAHO and DHS regulations pertaining to clinical nutrition and food services.

  • Broad knowledge and understanding of the trends and changes taking place in clinical patient nutrition services their implications.

  • Ability to make sound financial business decisions and adjustments in practice to achieve goals and objectives for area of responsibility.

  • Requires excellent professional communication and interpersonal relationship skills in order to lead, coach, mentor, motivate, empower and give and/or follow instructions and directions.

  • Ability to prioritize tasks, manage time effectively, think quickly and respond in crisis situations.

  • Requires financial management skills e.g., strong mathematics knowledge in order to evaluate and analyze financial data; operational, performance, budgetary, and productivity reports.

  • Ability to proactively resolve issues and concerns.

  • Requires knowledge using personal computers and standard office software applications such as Outlook, Word, and Excel.

  • Knowledge of food preparation, sanitation procedures, and safety practices.

  • Knowledge of therapeutic diets.

  • Knowledge of Joint Commission and DHS Standards.

  • Ability to clearly convey goals, expectations, and objectives to supervisors and line caregivers while allowing participation in decision making.

Preferred qualifications for this position include:

  • Master's Degree

  • 1 year management experience in an acute care medical center managing or supervising a clinical nutrition and/or food service program.
