We are seeking a Clinical Supervisor Welcome Baby - who will be responsible for day-to-day oversight of the Parent Coaches and is lead for the Welcome Baby team in the area of reflective practice. The CS ensures team members are properly trained and utilize reflective practices in supervision of staff. This includes ensuring staff receives one hour of individual reflective supervision per week (4 per month) and 4 hours of group reflective supervision per month (two 2-hour sessions). The CS also has overall accountability for the program. This position is grant-funded through June 2018 and maybe renewed yearly through 2018-2019.
In this position you will:
Staff:
Provide reflective supervision for individual staff on a weekly basis and a biweekly group basis for all home visitation staff
Ensure the quality of the program by overseeing services provided through periodic shadowing of home visits and conducting regular chart reviews
Work with staff individually, and in a group setting, to plan, implement, evaluate and improve the delivery of Project services
Track client enrollment and forecasts upcoming visits in order to assign cases and monitor visits for each Parent Coach in a fair and equitable manner
Assess strengths and areas of improvement for each employee and communicate observations
Education:
Provide consultation to all program staff on high risk clinical issues such as mental illness, developmental delays, child abuse and family violence to ensure that the needed support and follow-up is provided
Conduct ongoing team building activities to enhance employee relations and teamwork
Mentor and assists with ongoing training of employees to ensure that they are modeling empathy and providing holistic and strength-based services
Assist with and provides ongoing staff development related to the issues and needs of clients such as maternal and infant health, breastfeeding, parenting, attachment, home safety, family planning and child development
Administration:
Assist Welcome Baby Project Director in ensuring that deliverables are met as defined in the Scope of Work
Work closely with the Project Director to implement documentation, training, procedures, policies and protocols
Work closely with the Outreach Specialist(s) conducting outreach and Hospital Liaisons to track enrollment of new clients and assign cases to Parent Coaches and Welcome Baby Nurses in a timely manner
Collaborate with Project Director regarding identified program issues or barriers and identifies possible solutions
Establish and maintain positive communication with Supervisor
Attend all Welcome Baby, First 5, LABBN trainings and webinars as directed
Clients:
Assessing the client/family’s needs, goals, values, culture and well-being by observation and exploration
Assessing level of family and community support (both emotional and concrete)
Providing empathetic support and feedback to the client that allows her and her child to feel understood
Highlighting strengths of mother-child dyad to enhance and promote attachment
Providing education and support related to areas of need, concern, and interest using a client-centered approach
Promoting self-efficacy by acknowledging the client’s strengths
Discussing and reviewing accurate parenting information and appropriate expectations about infant behavior
Acknowledging and promoting behaviors that enhance parent-infant attachment and attunement, through observation, education and modeling
Modeling and promoting practices that enhance social, emotional, physical and intellectual (brain) development of infants and children
Demonstrating cultural competency by respecting individual family differences
Providing the client/family with needed referrals and follow-up
Explore and identifies new referrals and resources for clients
Raising issues that may be of concern for individual families and for the community at large about barriers and other issues faced in obtaining services
Qualifications:
Required qualifications for this position includes:
Coursework/Training: Complete CLE training within six (6) months of hire
Coursework/Training: Complete 100% of WB training topics within one (1) year of hire
Current California Driver License
LA City Fire Safety Certification within 30 days of hire
Two (2) years of experience in maternal and child home visitation
Two (2) years of experience providing reflective supervision
Preferred qualifications for this position includes:
MFT, Licensed Clinical Social Worker or Licensed Developmental Psychologist
Experience with providing client-centered services and continuous assessment of staff skills to identify areas that need special attention
Five (5) years of experience working in maternal and child health
Two (2) years of administrative experience as a supervisor
Experience working with families from diverse age, cultural and ethnic backgrounds
Knowledge of normal fetal, infant, and toddler development; maternal and child health; and early childhood education best practices
Knowledge about local community resources and ability to refer families to appropriate agencies
Ability to work collaboratively as a member of a multidisciplinary team
Empathy, warmth, and the ability to establish trusting supportive relationships with an ethnically diverse population
Ability to conduct a strength-based family assessment across a broad spectrum of areas using a validated, standardized tool administered in the prescribed manner
Skill in organizing and maintaining complete, accurate records and filing reports in a timely manner
Skill in writing to articulate concepts and ideas in notes and reports
Ability to communicate in the language(s) represented in the community to be served
Familiarity with the effects of perinatal depression on child development, parenting, and general functioning
Familiarity with the effects of domestic violence and parental alcohol and/or other drug abuse on family health, parenting, and general functioning
Ability to oversee preparation of team members through training, direct supervision, chart review, and weekly case review
Bilingual English/Spanish
