Providence Health & Services EKG Technician in Medford, Oregon

Description:

Providence is calling an EKG Technician to its Electrodiagnostics team at Providence Medford Medical Center in Medford, OR. This is a part-time (32 hour per week position). The shift schedule will be day shift. Monday-Friday with 3, 8 hour shifts and 1, 9 hour shift during the week.

We are seeking a EKG Technician that will perform electrocardiographic exams on inpatients and outpatients. May assist physicians with technical component of Stress Electrocardiograms and/or Stress Echocardiograms. May assist in scheduling patient procedures, transcribing echocardiographic reports, stress test, and Holter reports. Edits ECG's on MUSE system. May scan Holter monitors. Assists in coordinating the function of the department. Assists in training of new staff.

In this position you will have the following responsibilities:

  • Adhere to Hospital and department appearance guidelines

  • Perform electrocardiograms on patients obtaining the highest quality studies possible- with the least patient discomfort

  • Provide patient comfort by establishing good rapport and professionalism, communicating and explaining procedures as appropriate

  • Request from patients or families for clinical information is deferred to patient's nurse or Doctor.

  • Personal interaction with and treatment of patients during exams is individualized, as appropriate, to patient's age, needs and condition

  • Patient's privacy needs are individualized and respected and complied with as appropriate to age and wishes

  • Comply with quality control policies and procedures of the department

  • Leadership role in the training, orientation of new staff and students

  • May assist in type/transcribe reports

  • Support a 'Culture of Safety' within their facility

  • Comply with all of the parameters of the Ergonomics Based Injury Prevention & Safe Handling Policy including:

  • Use ergonomically sound work practices, mechanical lifting devices and other approved equipment/aids during performance of patient care and movement tasks

  • Notify supervisor of the need for re-training (theirs or their coworkers) in the use of mechanical lifting devices, other equipment/aids and lifting/moving techniques

  • Notify supervisor of mechanical lifting devices in need of repair

  • Contact Ergonomic Specialist for difficult patient handling situations

  • Complete re-training when directed by department management

  • Submit to disciplinary actions, up to and including termination, when determined by department management to be in non-compliance with this policy

  • Be evaluated for compliance and competency as determined in the employee's annual performance evaluation

  • Cover on-call shifts in accordance with department procedure

  • Position patients in a manner which is safe, utilizing the appropriate safe patient handling equipment and technique, allowing patients to be comfortable both physically and emotionally

Qualifications:

Required qualifications for this position includes:

  • High School Diploma -OR- GED

  • Successful completion of basic ECG course -OR- Knowledge of ECG rhythms

  • Must have current AHA BLS certification

  • Experience in Holter monitor scanning, stress test and transcription
