Providence Health & Services Executive Director Regional Service Delivery of Clinical Technology Services in Lubbock, Texas



The Regional Executive Director for Service Delivery of Clinical Technology Services is accountable to ensure the delivery of technology support services across the geography they serve. This role will partner closely with regional executive leadership to ensure the unique needs of the region, as they relate to technology and the medical device environment, are understood and addressed in the service delivery model, while also partnering with system level leadership to drive a common support model for technology enterprise wide.

The Regional Executive Director's partnership and accountability to regional operations will focus in 6 key areas:

  1. Partner with regional executive leadership to understand the strategic roadmap of the region and translate these needs to a technology focused service delivery roadmap for Clinical Technology Services (CTS). This will include working with regional leadership to understand the equipment needs for specialized services (e.g. imaging, diagnostic, etc). This roadmap will focus on leveraging system level competencies and technologies as a preferred solution where possible, ahead of regional or "one-off" solutions.

  2. In collaboration with regional operational leadership, facilitate an ongoing process for review of core metrics and outcomes from the service delivery model (i.e. monthly business review or similar framework). Drive an ongoing dialogue with regional leadership around the service model value, optimization, opportunity for improving service delivery, capital planning, etc.

  3. Partner with regional operations in support of system level projects and programs that may touch regional operations. This includes acting as a change champion for system level efforts as well as acting as a conduit back into system projects on how to optimize approach going forward.

  4. In collaboration with regional operations, system level governance groups where appropriate, and leveraging the system level framework, drive ongoing capital and asset plans for clinical technology assets in the field (with a focus on medical equipment device management and lifecycle). This includes a long-term view of the replacement plan for end-of-life equipment and ensuring technical debt is minimized within available investment (with a specific focus on minimizing cyber risk).

  5. With a specific focus on cyber security, the Exec Director will be accountable to ensure the regional service delivery model prioritizes addressing, mitigating, and minimizing cyber risk across the regional technology portfolio. They will also partner with local operations to ensure the risk related to cyber security is understood.

  6. Ensure regulatory and/or accreditation compliance as it relates to the service portfolio for Clinical Technology Services. This will include participating and/or leading planning and response for regulatory / accreditation activities such as joint commission surveys. Additionally, ensure all applicable regulatory / accreditation requirements are met as it relates to staffing, service contracts, maintenance, and other required activities.

The Regional Exec Director will participate in system level planning / execution as it relates to optimizing the overall clinical technology services model and/or the IS service delivery model. This includes evaluating service contracts or similar spend at an enterprise level and giving up local control of spend / effort where it better meets the need of PSJH at the enterprise level.

The Regional Exec Director will lead a team of clinical engineers, information technology support professionals, senior leaders, and other associated support roles tied to the direct delivery of technology support services in the region. This role will be accountable for the allocation of work across this diverse set of technology professionals to accommodate successful technology delivery and ensure compliance and regulatory requirements are met (e.g., preventative maintenance completed, staff certifications kept up to date, etc.).

S/he will leverage data, analytics, and reporting developed at the enterprise level, to ensure the local teams are operating efficiently and meeting standard benchmarks for service delivery. Through reporting, and operational processes, s/he will identify systemic issues that can be addressed through engineering efforts to improve service delivery.

The Regional Exec Director will be accountable to operate within an enterprise framework for technology service delivery and the enterprise technology strategic roadmap as set by the enterprise CIO. Where possible, the Exec Director will leverage system level tools, process, and technology as a preferred solution and will advocate for these system level approaches with regional leadership.

The Regional Exec Director shall perform all duties in a manner that promotes PSJH mission, values, and philosophy. In all aspects, s/he serves as a role model for the values and mission of the organization.


  • Act as a strategic thought leader for service delivery and have a strong understanding of the processes and tools used by mature organization in managing technology service delivery (technology is defined to include both clinical engineering / bio-medical technology and information technology). Building a cutting edge service management team and function in both mindset and skill set that differentiates PSJH from the industry. Lead and manage this team in such a way to enable a high performance and high engagement

  • Be able to collaborate with executive leadership and operational leadership across the region to drive a service strategy that meets unique regional needs, while operating within an enterprise framework for system delivery

  • Lead and develop a diverse team of technology processionals to ensure team composition meets the needs of the service delivery model. Work with leaders and front line staff to grow technology professionals to meet the needs of the region

  • Serve as a key member of the senior leadership team and contribute broadly at the executive level, educate and work collaboratively with all members of the leadership team in order to facilitate informed and transparent decisions

  • Has a strong understanding of cybersecurity framework and how it applies to the clinical engineering / information technology environment

  • Be responsible for the effective communication of project status, issues, risks, and budgetary information to key stakeholders and senior leadership

  • Drive Performance: Provide timely guidance and feedback to help others excel; Establish performance objectives and development plans, track performance, and evaluate progress toward goals; Work tenaciously toward stretch goals for personal and group performance

Required experience/education for this position include:

  • Bachelor's Degree in Quality Management, Healthcare Administration, Biomedical Computer Science, Information Systems Management, or Information Services; or equivalent educ/experience

  • 10 or more years of related experience in technology service delivery, clinical engineering, bio-medical engineering, or a related field.

  • 8 years of leadership experience, including at least 4 years experiencing in a role with a direct connection to senior executive leadership

  • Demonstrated excellent judgment and decision making skills

  • Ability to build strong customer relationships

  • Strong product knowledge

  • Demonstrated project management skills

  • Strong technical aptitude

  • Ability employ a wide range of communication styles and approaches to suit different situations / audiences; presents complex issues / data with a high level of clarity

Preferred experience/education for this position include:

  • Master's Degree in Quality Management, Healthcare Administration, Biomedical Computer Science, Information Systems Management, or Information Services

  • AAMI Certification related to Healthcare Technology (CHTM).
