Providence Health & Services Laboratory Technician in Lacey, Washington


Providence is calling a Laboratory Technician (0.7 FTE,Variable) to Providence Medical Group in Lacey, WA.

A Technical Lab Assistant is responsible for

clinical laboratory duties, including:

Reception and Telephone duties, operating

laboratory equipment including HIS/LIS systems, pneumatic Tube System, specimen

handling and processing, shipping of Laboratory specimens for at Reference

Laboratories. Knowledge of Billing practices. Taking orders for tests and

clerical functions – patient registration, communication with customer/clients

and lab staff. Responsibilities may include Phlebotomy- collection of Blood

samples, to include obtaining blood samples by skin puncture, venipuncture;

Therapeutic blood collection and EKG test procedures. Performance of Point

of Care testing consistent with the assigned site menu.

In this position you will:

Clinic Setting

  • Answerthe phone, properly route calls, act as a knowledgeable resource forlab-related questions

  • Properlycollect and process specimens from patients

  • Performand report waived and moderate-complexity POC testing per standard protocol,and under oversight of SWR Point of Care Coordinator.

  • Manageand maintain reagents appropriate to the setting

  • Performappropriate quality control and maintenance procedures, consistent withinstrumentation on-site and on-site test menu

  • Maintainclean and safe environment for both staff and patients

  • OtherDuties as Assigned


Required qualifications for this position include:

  • Highschool graduate or GED equivalent

  • Clinicallaboratory experience, or completion of approved phlebotomy or MedicalAssistant training program

  • MedicalAssistant Certification- either (MA-P) or (MA-C)

Preferredqualifications for this position include:

  • CurrentCLP (ASCP) Registered Phlebotomist or equivalent certification
