Providence Health & Services Ward Clerk in Kodiak, Alaska
Providence is calling a Ward Clerk (ECF, Day, 1.0 FTE) to Providence Kodiak Island Medical Center in Kodiak, Alaska.
The Ward Clerk provides administrative support to the unit by performing various clerical tasks to include greeting and directing patients, family members and visitors, operating multiple telecommunication systems, transferring calls appropriately and accurately maintain patient charts and unit records.
This position will include a Monday-Friday schedule.
In this position, you will:
Accurately transcribe orders for patients’ plan of care.
Maintain and operate multiple telecommunication systems.
Oversee CNA schedules as directed by department manager.
Accurately maintain patient charts and unit records according to procedure.
Communicate in a compassionate and professional manner to patients, families and visitors.
Demonstrate professional interpersonal skills and cooperate with other departments and members of the care delivery team to provide optimal continuity of care to patients and their families.
Demonstrate knowledge and support of quality improvement goals.
Required qualifications for this position include:
High school graduate or equivalent
Completion of a Medical Terminology course within 90 days of hire date
Basic computer skills/knowledge
Preferred qualifications for this position include:
Certified Medical Assistant (MA) or C.N.A certification
Six months of experience in health care activities or in an institutional setting

Providence Kodiak Island Medical Center (PKIMC) provides comprehensive health care to residents and visitors of Kodiak Island. This critical access hospital features 25 acute care beds, including four birthing suites, one OB triage room, and two ICU beds. In addition, the Elder House, PKIMC’s long term care facility, has 22 beds.
PKIMC provides an extensive array of inpatient and outpatient services, including emergency department, surgery, laboratory services, maternity, general medicine, physical therapy, occupational therapy, respiratory therapy, sleep studies, specialty clinics, diagnostic imaging services and pharmacy and is staffed by a mix of primary care physicians, surgeons and specialists who provide family practice, internal medicine, obstetrics, radiology and general practice.
