Surgical Technician II - Operating Room at Providence Kodiak Island Medical Center

The Surgical Technician II provides support by anticipating the needs of the Surgeon and other surgical personnel by performing tasks that assist in the care and treatment of patients during the surgical process while maintaining a sterile work environment at all times. Performs decontamination of equipment, instruments and completes sterilization process. Maintains a positive and professional image when interacting with patients, their families, physicians, employees and general public.

Required qualifications:

  • Graduation from a Surgical Technology Program accredited by the Committee on Allied Health Education and Accreditation (CAAHEP) or other program accredited by the Liaison Council on Certification for the Surgical Technologist or completion of a Surgical Technician Military Training program

  • Certified Surgical Technologist (CST)

  • BLS or the ability to attain certification within 90 days of date of hire

  • Operating Room experience for candidates who have graduated from an accredited Surgical Technology Program or have completed other accredited programs by the Liaison Council on Certification for the Surgical Technologist or completion of a Surgical Technician Military Training program. Candidates with equivalent other or at least six months of on the job clinical training must have minimum one year operating room experience scrubbing on surgical procedure

Preferred qualifications:

  • Certification in Sterile Processing

About Kodiak Island Medical Center

Providence Kodiak Island Medical Center (PKIMC) provides comprehensive health care to residents and visitors of Kodiak Island. This critical access hospital features 25 acute care beds, including four birthing suites, one OB triage room, and two ICU beds. In addition, the Elder House, PKIMC’s long term care facility, has 22 beds.

PKIMC provides an extensive array of inpatient and outpatient services, including emergency department, surgery, laboratory services, maternity, general medicine, physical therapy, occupational therapy, respiratory therapy, sleep studies, specialty clinics, diagnostic imaging services and pharmacy and is staffed by a mix of primary care physicians, surgeons and specialists who provide family practice, internal medicine, obstetrics, radiology and general practice.
