Providence Health & Services Surgical Technician I - Operating Room in Kodiak, Alaska
Providence is calling a Surgical Technician I (Operating Room, Day Shift, 1.0 FTE) to Providence Kodiak Medical Center in Kodiak, Alaska.
We are seeking a Surgical Technician I to provide a wide variety of clinical and clerical support to the Surgical Services department and other departments in accordance with Providence philosophy, objectives, policies, procedures and standards. The Surgical Technician I will provide medical support by anticipating the needs of the Surgeon and other surgical personnel by performing tasks that assist in the care and treatment of patients during surgical process, while maintaining a sterile work environment.
In this position you will:
Anticipate the needs of the surgeon, as well as emergency and unusual circumstances, acts accordingly to expedite the surgery, and initiates corrective actions.
Provide for the comfort and safety of the patient during the operation.
Appropriately identify and safely transport patients to and from the Operating Room according to procedure.
Set up surgical equipment.
Picks up and receive soiled equipment.
Sort, unload and decontaminate equipment and instruments according to procedure.
Required qualifications for this position include:
Complete required in-service annually as determined by institution/department
Basic Life Support (BLS) certification within 90 days of date of hire
Preferred qualifications for this position include:
Completion of an accredited Surgical Technologist program
Certified Surgical Technologist (CST) Certification

Providence Kodiak Island Medical Center (PKIMC) provides comprehensive health care to residents and visitors of Kodiak Island. This critical access hospital features 25 acute care beds, including four birthing suites, one OB triage room, and two ICU beds. In addition, the Elder House, PKIMC’s long term care facility, has 22 beds.
