Providence RN – Labor and Delivery *0.6 FTE, Night Shift* in Kodiak, Alaska

RN – Labor and Delivery

The registered nurse is accountable for the delivery and supervision of safe, quality care that is individualized for their assigned patients and follows the nursing process in accordance with the Nurse Practice Act (assessment, planning implementation, evaluation). She/He is responsible for the assessment, treatment and care of patients in populations and ages as assigned. The registered nurse accepts and promotes professional development as an integral part of nursing practice. She/He will access, analyze, customize, coordinate and communicate the patient's plan of care and activities collaboratively with other members of the health care team. She/He will direct, delegate and manage the care delivered by colleagues and subordinates

Qualifications:

Required qualifications for this position include:

  • Nursing degree/diploma required upon hire

  • Licensed as a Registered Nurse in the State of Alaska.

  • Current Basic Life Support (BLS) card must be from American Heart Association (AHA) upon hire

  • One (1) year In an acute care hospital preferred unless hired as an intern or fellow.

About Kodiak Island Medical Center

Providence Kodiak Island Medical Center (PKIMC) provides comprehensive health care to residents and visitors of Kodiak Island. This critical access hospital features 25 acute care beds, including four birthing suites, one OB triage room, and two ICU beds. In addition, the Elder House, PKIMC’s long term care facility, has 22 beds.

PKIMC provides an extensive array of inpatient and outpatient services, including emergency department, surgery, laboratory services, maternity, general medicine, physical therapy, occupational therapy, respiratory therapy, sleep studies, specialty clinics, diagnostic imaging services and pharmacy and is staffed by a mix of primary care physicians, surgeons and specialists who provide family practice, internal medicine, obstetrics, radiology and general practice.
