Providence Health & Services RN – Extended Care Facility in Kodiak, Alaska
Providence is calling a Registered Nurse (RN) Staff (Extended Care Facility, Variable Shift, 0 FTE) to Providence Kodiak Island Medical Center in Kodiak, Alaska.
The registered nurse is accountable for the delivery and supervision of safe, quality care that is individualized for their assigned patients and follows the nursing process in accordance with the Nurse Practice Act (assessment, planning implementation, evaluation). She/He is responsible for the assessment, treatment and care of patients in populations and ages as assigned.
In this position you will:
Monitor patient’s condition, notes changes in status, utilizes judgment and takes appropriate action.
Communicate patient status to colleagues and physicians to include: situation, background, assessment, and recommendations (S.B.A.R).
Work in partnership with the patient, family and members of the healthcare team; develops, documents, implements and monitors an individualized plan of care which reflects a standard of care based on evidence and best practice.
Provide, document, and consult to assure necessary patient and family education in support of the treatment plan.
Legibly and electronically documents patient care activities and information in an accurate, concise, and timely manner.
Possess knowledge of developmental needs and competent in the assessment and treatment as it relates to the age of the patient population served.
Conduct and document a comprehensive patient assessment upon admission. Continually reassesses and applies appropriate advocacy and interventions as indicated.
Required qualifications for this position include:
Graduate of an accredited/approved school of Nursing
Licensed as a Registered Nurse in the State of Alaska
Preferred qualifications for this position include:
- 1 year Registered Nurse experience in an acute care hospital

Providence Kodiak Island Medical Center (PKIMC) provides comprehensive health care to residents and visitors of Kodiak Island. This critical access hospital features 25 acute care beds, including four birthing suites, one OB triage room, and two ICU beds. In addition, the Elder House, PKIMC’s long term care facility, has 22 beds.
PKIMC provides an extensive array of inpatient and outpatient services, including emergency department, surgery, laboratory services, maternity, general medicine, physical therapy, occupational therapy, respiratory therapy, sleep studies, specialty clinics, diagnostic imaging services and pharmacy and is staffed by a mix of primary care physicians, surgeons and specialists who provide family practice, internal medicine, obstetrics, radiology and general practice.
