Providence Health & Services Emergency Preparedness & Safety Coordinator in Kodiak, Alaska
Providence is calling an Emergency Preparedness & Safety Coordinator (Facilities Support ) to Providence Kodiak Medical Center in Kodiak, Alaska. This is a full-time variable shift.

In this position you will:
Develop policies and procedures that facilitate compliance and program implementation.
Represent PKIMC on the Providence Health and Services Alaska (PHSA) Hospital Preparedness Program coalition to include maintenance and authoring of the PKIMC Emergency Operations Plan and implement all aspects of that plan in accordance with Joint Commission and CMS guidelines and Homeland Security.
Provide general oversight and participate in all disaster drills to include authoring of the PKIMC Emergency Operations plan (EOP).
Demonstrate professional interpersonal and verbal skills when communicating with a wide variety of people from differing literacy levels, languages and cultures.
Assist with the coordination and collection of statistical data and other information to support and develop current and/or new services while ensuring cost effective processes and development plans are in place.
Development of and maintains quality control and quality assurance programs by developing indicators to measure, monitor, and report performance to other.
Required qualifications for this position include:
High School Diploma or equivalent
HAZWOPER certification required within 6 months from the date of hire
Certification in Healthcare Safety Professional to include completion of Incident Command System (ICS) 100, 200, 700 and 800 within 1 year of hire
4 years of experience in healthcare related filed to include Emergency Prepardness, Safety and/or regulatory compliance
Prior experience in program coordination
Familiar with healthcare emergency preparedness, including security, safety, HAZMAT, OSHA, CMS and Joint Commission related criteria
Familiar with NIMS, HICS and HVA
Working knowledge and skills with MS Office, to include; Word, Excel, Outlook, Powerpoint and Visio
Ability to author complex, detailed documents, spreadsheets and presentations

Providence Kodiak Island Medical Center (PKIMC) provides comprehensive health care to residents and visitors of Kodiak Island. This critical access hospital features 25 acute care beds, including four birthing suites, one OB triage room, and two ICU beds. In addition, the Elder House, PKIMC’s long term care facility, has 22 beds.
PKIMC provides an extensive array of inpatient and outpatient services, including emergency department, surgery, laboratory services, maternity, general medicine, physical therapy, occupational therapy, respiratory therapy, sleep studies, specialty clinics, diagnostic imaging services and pharmacy and is staffed by a mix of primary care physicians, surgeons and specialists who provide family practice, internal medicine, obstetrics, radiology and general practice.
