Description
The position is accountable for the overall management and performance of the government relations function within the assigned areas of responsibility, and contributes to the coordination of the activities of the department of Government and Public Affairs.
Serves as the external advocate for PSJH and affiliates in the assigned areas of responsibility, with a focus on advancing public policy in accordance with the Mission and strategic direction of the ministry to state and local legislative and policy making bodies.
Acts as a key strategic resource for operations leaders and business development/strategy professionals, translating external state-based government and stakeholder activity and developments to support direction setting and increased performance levels.
Develops and executes integrated statewide advocacy program to serve all markets within the assigned areas of responsibility.
Develops, maintains and manages the organization’s relationships with key external partners, stakeholders and constituencies in support of advocacy goals. Ensures compliance with all policies, laws and legal requirements on lobbying activities.
Designs and oversees a robust partners program for PSJH leadership within the assigned areas of responsibility, including: Links leadership with key policy makers, Develops and provides supporting materials for briefings and talking points, Creates internal presentations explaining the partners program, Initiates, manages and monitors contacts through the program, Collaborates with Regional and local ministry staff on local strategies and contacts, and Provides timely tracking and reporting contacts and outcomes.
Develops a deep connection between PSJH and external policy makers by coordinating visits with public officials at our facilities and at state capitols. Ensures PSJH leaders are fully briefed prior to visits/tours.
Implements and maintain effective communication structures to inform PSJH leaders about state and local legislative and policy issues. This includes design and maintenance of useful and informative state-specific government affairs intranet sites, as well as providing educational presentations to internal audiences on government relations and advocacy.
In coordination with the Executive Director, Government and Public Affairs, manages external consultants of state-focused lobbying services in the assigned areas of responsibility.
Required qualifications:
Bachelor's Degree in Public Policy, Law, Political Science, Business, Communications, Government, or Health Administration.
8 years of work experience in legislative or regulatory activities, or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
