Providence Health & Services AVP of Service Engineering - BioMed in Irvine, California
The Associate Vice President for Service Engineering focused on Bio-Med devices is accountable to drive continuous improvement across the Providence Saint Joseph Health technology services ecosystem with a specific focus on Biomedical Devices through three key areas:
Service Process Management: Working with IS and clinical leaders across the IS organization, establish an ongoing process and strategy to identify and map all Bio-Med devices and associated services across the technology landscape to ensure a complete estate view and service alignment is understood. This work will leverage existing efforts where they exist and through partnership build new service processes as appropriate. As the service landscape is understood, focus will shift toward ongoing governance (for example the creation of an ongoing upgrade and compliance model) and driving the modernization of core IS service processes that align with secure and current BIo-Med infrastructure.
Service Engineering: In partnership with executive and operational leadership, as well as the Service Analytics team, drive improvement of IS service delivery across the PSJH Bio-Med estate. Using foundational analytics, identify service issues and work with technology owners to engineer issues out of the environment and keep the estate modern, secured and fully compliant with all operating system updates and associated patching. Where appropriate develop tools and implement new solutions to support service monitoring and/or improved service delivery.
Service Application Modernization and Management: Develop a strategic roadmap for the modernization of the Bio-Med devices. Directly lead the application engineering and support teams for all Bio-Med technology. Partner with operational leaders inside and outside Information Services to understand technology needs and rapidly develop forward facing modern solutions to address gaps. Ensure ongoing support and compliance for application ecosystem.
The Associate Vice President for Service Engineering will lead a team of engineers, developers, support analysts, and other associated technical and project management roles in support of the goals identified above. The AVP role is part of the Technology Engineering & Operations (TEO) pillar within Information Services and will also serve as a technical advisor to the leaders across this functional are focusing on client devices and end user experience to help drive technology strategies forward.

Identifies and develops custom solutions, in alignment with PSJH IS strategy, to address gaps & opportunities between enterprise IS strategy and business partners strategic roadmap.
Builds and leads a Bio-Med compliance model that is secure and ensures an up to date and patched estate that is properly cataloged and can be reported on.
Serve as the executive leader for a team of senior leaders, analysts, engineers, project managers, and other roles required to support execution of strategic road maps.

Required experience/education for this position include:
Master's Degree in Technology, Management, Healthcare, or related field; and/or equivalent education/experience.
Bachelor’s Degree in Technology, Management, Healthcare, or related field.
More than 10 years of senior technology leadership experience including experience related to Service Engineering and/or software engineering and development.
More than 10 years of experience in leading a team to support the creation and execution of strategic plans / roadmaps to address service and process gaps.
5 years of experience working in a leadership role that required collaborating across multiple technology and/or business functions to achieve business outcomes.
5 years of experience working in a technology leadership role that had involvement in technology engineering and/or engineering operations.
Competency with Azure, O365, Cloud design and architecture.
Preferred experience/education for this position include:
Ability to analyze information, evaluate results to choose the best solution and solve problems.
Ability to analyze information gathered by investigation, and report findings and recommendations.
Demonstrated problem solving skills
Demonstrated analytical skills and data-driven approach
