Providence Registered Respiratory Therapist in Hood River, Oregon
Providence is calling a Registered Respiratory Therapist (0.0 FTE, Rotating/Variable) to Providence Hood River Memorial Hospital in Hood River, OR. This is an On-Call position that may also float to other locations.
We are seeking for a Registered Respiratory Therapist who will work under the direction of a physician and according to accepted Department and Hospital Policies and Procedures, for providing treatment, management, diagnostic testing, control and care of patients with deficiencies and abnormalities associated with the cardio-pulmonary system.
In this position you will have the following responsibilities:
With exception of neonatal and pediatric mechanical ventilation, Staff Respiratory Therapists are responsible for the assessment, treatment or care of all ages, including neonate, pediatric and adult
Be competent in the interpretation of the patient's signs and symptoms with an understanding of the cognitive, physical, emotional and chronological maturation process, and, therefore, provide specific care accordingly
Provide respiratory therapy evaluations and treatments as ordered by a physician, or as needed in emergency situations, following standards of practices and procedures, evaluates treatments given and documents outcomes on patient's records
Report abnormal data/observations to nurse and/or physician
Maintain knowledge of and contributes to the patients plan of care
Demonstrate skill and competency with Pulmonary Function Tests (PFTs), non-invasive cardiology testing and EEG testing (if applicable)
Be responsible for the set-up, operation and maintenance of various types of oxygen, therapeutic gas and mist inhalation, and ventilation equipment, as well as other equipment used in various cardio-respiratory assessment/ treatment modalities
Be responsible for airway management and resuscitation of neonatal, pediatric and adult patients. Competent in the use of mechanical ventilation for adult patients
Be able to respond quickly to any area of the hospital during an emergency. As a member of the Rapid Response Team (RRT) at PHRMH
Demonstrate organizational ability by using time and equipment effectively and efficiently, and assumes accountability for patient care, as well as departmental duties/projects
Maintain positive relations with patients, visitors and co-workers
Accurately documents physician (and other licensed independent practitioners) verbal orders and all care given to a patient and communicates this with nurses and physicians regarding patient care
Utilize educational resources of the hospital, attends all mandatory in-services/meetings, and completes all yearly competencies
Required qualifications for this position includes:
Associate's Degree: Graduate of an accredited school for Respiratory Therapy -OR- equivalent education/experience
Licensed by the Oregon Respiratory Therapist Licensing Board as Respiratory Care Practitioner (RCP)
Certified by the National Board for Respiratory Care as a Registered Respiratory Therapist (RRT)
Current Basic Life Support (BLS) certification
Advanced Cardiovascular Life Support (ACLS) within three (3) months from date of employment.
Neonatal Resuscitation Program (NRP) certification within (3) months from date of employment
Preferred qualifications for this position includes:
One (1) year experience as a Respiratory Therapist, including critical care of all age groups
Cardiology experience (i.e., inpatient and outpatient diagnostic testing).
