Location: Healdsburg, CA

Work Schedule: Part Time - 48 Biweekly Hours

Shift: 8-hour, Days (Variable Shifts)

Job Summary:

Responsible for the safe preparation of food for patients, staff and visitors, sanitation of work areas and equipment, receiving and storage of food and supplies.

Essential Functions:

  • Assists with preparation of food for patients, cafeteria and special functions that is tasteful and attractively presented.

  • Assists cook as needed in areas of food preparation, assembling of patient trays, washing dishes (manually and using dish machine), works in cafeteria, runs cash register, waits on customers, cleans tables, refills condiments/cups/etc., completes daily and weekly cleaning assignments, completes nourishment requests.

  • Demonstrates basic knowledge and understanding of primary diet orders: regular, cardiac, low sodium, dysphagia, and diabetic.

  • Demonstrates personal hygiene habits to ensure food safety in accordance with universal precautions.

  • Completes daily and weekly sanitation assignments following departmental policies and procedures.

  • Maintains foods at appropriate temperatures for serving and storage to prevent food borne illness.

  • Follows departmental policy for receiving and storing food and supplies.

  • Documentation meets current standards and departmental policies. FSWs: dish machine sanitation log, dish machine de-liming log, temperature logs, proper labeling and dating of foods.

  • Practices proper sanitation techniques, maintains clean and sanitary workspace, and demonstrates excellent personal hygiene.

  • Uses computer, as needed, to run reports.

  • Performs other duties as assigned to support the department’s objectives.

Skills:

  • Knowledge of basic math skills for cash register use.

  • Competent in operation of various electrical and mechanical equipment.

  • Basic computer skills.

  • English language, reading and writing skills.

Minimum Position Requirements:

Experience: 1 year experience in food service field, commercial kitchen.

Licenses/Certifications: California Food Handler Card within 30 days of hire or ServSafe certification.

Preferred Position Qualifications:

Education: Coursework/Training - On the job training provided for proficiency in hospital diet orders such as regular, low sodium, diabetic.

Experience: Hospital experience.
