We are looking for a Nurse Educator for the Education Department at St. Jude Medical Center.

Location: Fullerton, CA

Work Schedule: Full Time - 80 Biweekly Hours

Shift: 8-hour, Days

Job Summary:

With advanced educational preparation, the Nurse Educator demonstrates expertise in the areas of education, facilitation, change, consultation, research and leadership. In conjunction with the Director of Education, the Nurse Educator provides educational support to members of the health care team with the primary focus in the area of clinical experience and continuing professional development activities.

Essential Functions:

  • Develops, coordinates and presents educational and learning activities based on needs assessments, using a variety of teaching strategies and modalities. (Educator)

  • Facilitates the adult learning process creating a climate conducive to learning and fostering positive relationships with clinical experts, learners and clients. (Facilitator)

  • Serve as a change agent while maintaining confidentiality, healthy work environment using principles of adult learning, theories of organizational development, system change and quality improvement. (Change Agent)

  • Maintains educational and clinical competence as appropriate to role. (Leader)

  • Consults and mentors within and outside nursing and the organization. (Consultant)

  • Integrates research from a variety of sources and disciplines into practice. (Researcher)


  • Excellent research skills.

  • Familiar with Joint Commission, CMS, and professional organization standards.

  • Superior interpersonal skills.

  • Knowledge of the educational process.

  • Word processing/Computerized Presentation skills.

  • Audio-visual usage competency.

  • Good presentation and interactive skills with an audience.

Minimum Position Requirements:

Education: Master's Degree in Education, Nursing, or related field.


  • 1 year Teaching or related experience.

  • 3 years Experience in clinical role.


  • Valid California Registered Nurse License.

  • BLS.

  • RN requirements for area of specialty i.e., ACLS, PALS, NRP.
