Providence is calling a Respiratory Care Practitioner (0.9 FTE, Night Shift) to work in Respiratory Therapy at Providence Regional Medical Center Everett in Everett, WA .

The Respiratory Care Practitioner will manage, assess, plan, and evaluate care for patients with acute and/or chronic cardiopulmonary deficiencies and abnormalities in collaboration with the rest of the healthcare team. Performs basic computer skills including retrieving patient information, billing, data base management, and editing patient data.

In this position you will:

  • Demonstrate age specific patient care considerations for the population served:

  • Demonstrate application of knowledge, skills, and behaviors in the physical, motor/sensory, cognitive, psychosocial, patient and family education areas based on PEMC age specific care competency assessment tool

  • Initial assesses of the pulmonary status of their patients. Re-evaluates the patient’s continuing pulmonary status:

  • Obtain pertinent medical history, assesses patient’s physical status, identifies any special learning needs, reviews any pertinent laboratory or other procedural data, and documents clinical findings

  • Correctly evaluate the patient’s response to care and to recommend plan of care changes with proper communication with the ordering physician and other health care professionals

  • Demonstrated through Chart review

  • Assist in developing the patient’s plan of care which integrates their assessment, the patient’s short and long term goals, the medical treatment plan and any pertinent diagnostic data:

  • Collaborate with the physician and other health care professionals to design a plan of care to treat the patient’s pulmonary issues demonstrated through Chart review

  • Provide patient education for the Respiratory Care procedures performed:

  • Educate patients and families about the procedures performed and medications administered

  • Document this education per hospital and department policy

  • Document and bills for care given. Communicates patient condition to oncoming shift through verbal report:

  • Document patient care per hospital and department policy

  • Accurately bills for care given with HIS

  • Communicate patient condition and treatments through verbal report to the oncoming shift

  • Provide safe and quality critical care to patients in critical care areas:

  • Care for patients with artificial airways, manage patients on mechanical ventilators, and provide cardiopulmonary resuscitative procedures per department and hospital policy

  • Correctly interprets and executes medical staff orders for treatment in a timely manner

  • Provide safe and quality routine care to patients outside of the critical care areas:

  • Administer medications, performs airway clearance techniques, and adjunctive oxygen administration per department and hospital policy

  • Correctly interprets and executes medical staff orders for treatment in a timely manner

  • Properly manage equipment used in Respiratory Care procedures:

  • Correctly disassembles, cleans and disinfects, reassembles, and assures proper functionality of equipment used

  • Correctly triages malfunctioning equipment to assure safe patient care


Required qualifications for this position include:

  • Associate's Degree -or- two (2) year technical program - Associate Degree in Respiratory Care - or- a combination of education and directly related work experience

  • Washington State License-Respiratory Care Practitioner

  • Registered Respiratory Therapist

  • Must have license to work past orientation

  • Must complete NBRC Registry exam within one (1) year of hire

  • Must complete certifications within 90-days of hire

  • Basic Life Support (BLS)

  • Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS)

  • Neonatal Resuscitation Provider (NRP)
