Providence Phlebotomist in Centralia, Washington
Providence Health Services is calling a Phlebotomist I (0.4 FTE, Variable Shift) to Providence Centralia Hospital in Centralia, WA.
A Phlebotomist I is responsible for clinical laboratory duties, including reception and telephone duties & proficient operation laboratory equipment including HIS/LIS systems; specimen handling: receiving and processing; prep & shipping of lab specimens for at Reference Laboratories; specimen/patient registration; phlebotomy - collection of blood samples by venipuncture or capillary stick; therapeutic blood collection; swab collection of specific Micro samples (per competency); assignment to OP Lab locations; training new staff as assigned.
In this position you will:
Performs reception and telephone duties
Demonstrates effective written and verbal communication skills. Proficiency in speaking, reading, and writing English.
Explains steps, requirements, and procedures to customers.
Facilitates communications and refers complex calls to appropriate staff.
Ability to handle and process multiple specimen drops (i.e.) Courier Drops, Health Care Professional Drops, Tube Station Specimen Drops
Demonstrates knowledge of the unit’s testing procedures, systems and databases as necessary to the position
Performs EKG test procedures (where offered) and phlebotomy tasks, collects venous blood specimens from patient age groups, as certified.
Performs office/clerical tasks such as filing, copying, and typing
Required qualifications for this position include:
High School Diploma or GED.
Completion of an approved phlebotomy or Medical Assistant Training program meeting requirement to become licensed as a MA-P or MA-C by WA State.
Medical Assistant - Phlebotomist Certification (MA-P) or (MA-C).
Preferred qualifications for this position include:
- Less than one year experience as a phlebotomist and/or completion of a Phlebotomy program.
