The Medical Laboratory Technician II is responsible for technical Medical Laboratory Technician bench duties within the laboratory, for the assigned section(s). The position performs routine and complex tests in any of these potential sections (as assigned): Hematology, Coagulation, Chemistry, Urinalysis, Microbiology, Molecular, and Immunohematology. The position has responsibility for planning, performing and evaluating laboratory testing analysis; and establishing and/or maintaining communications with physicians, patients, other hospital personnel, professional associations, and other organizations.
In this position you will:
Performs and evaluates laboratory testing and analysis
Coordinates and performs data entry and related LIS operation
Performs instrument maintenance according to protocol
Performs Quality Control procedures and related tasks
Complies with facility and unit specific infection control, risk management and OSHA guidelines and procedures
Required qualifications for this position include:
Associate's Degree in Life Science or Completion of an accredited two (2) year technical MLT program, including clinical rotations
American Society of Clinical Pathologists (ASCP) – Medical Laboratory Technologist (MLT) or National Certification Agency (NCA)-Clinical Laboratory at hire
Two (2) years experience as an MLT
Proficiency in at least 3 of the position summary section assignments
Preferred qualifications for this position include:
- Previous experience in a clinical laboratory setting
