Providence is looking for a Food Services Worker (0.6 FTE, 24 hours per week Evening Shift) to work at Providence

In this position you will:
o Complies with food services sanitation and cleanliness requirements. Standards:
o Follows safe food handling principles of temperature control, cleanliness, and non-contamination of food using accepted HACCP protocol.
o Controls contamination of food by proper hand washing and glove use.
o Sanitizes equipment with proper sanitizing solutions. Equipment includes food carts, salad bar, tables, shelves, microwave, ice machine, sinks, counter tops, dishware, glassware, flatware, and utensils.
o Follows cleaning schedule per shift requirements.
o Labels food with appropriate date and ensures proper rotation of potentially hazardous foods using accepted HACCP protocol.
o Practices good safety habits within the hospital and the Nutrition Services Department. Standards:
o Follows procedure for safe use of equipment to minimize injury and breakage of equipment.
o Informs supervisor of malfunctioning equipment, needed maintenance, and general safety concerns.
o Wipes up spills immediately or notifies housekeeping of potential hazards.
o Demonstrates safe use of hazardous materials within department or in hospital areas.
o Accurately follows therapeutic diet prescription and texture orders. Standards:
o Ensures patient order meets prescribed diet.
o Monitors carbohydrate level for patients with diabetes.
o Accurately records diet orders on patient order tickets, tallies selected approved foods.
o Ensures accurate patient trays, beverages, and delivery of food carts and selected catered meals.
o Prepares and serves cold food items according to the diet order.
o Follows texture orders for food and liquid.
o Accurately prepares and delivers nourishments and supplements.
o Prepares and serves cold food that is appealing and flavorful. Standards:
o Presents cold food plate in appealing manner with appropriate two color garnishes.
o Adjusts flavors to meet diet prescription, taste tests products.
o Minimizes food wastage.
o Accurately receives and carries out telephone orders and other changes. Standards:
o Uses telephone log to record message accurately.
o Initiates and communicates diet order changes.
o Accurately lists patient room and diet changes for each meal. Notes patient preferences.
o Allocates time to assure completed daily work. Standards:
o Accurately sets up tray line food and beverages to ensure on time service of patient meals.
o Prioritizes meal tickets to ensure timely delivery of patient meal.
o Monitors tray line to ensure timeliness of tray preparation.
o Completes daily work in the assigned time.
o Restocks and cleans area during and at the end of the shift. Standards:
o Keeps work area clean and tidy during shift.
o Leaves work area clean for the next shift and locks up area as needed.
o Ensures proper rotation, dating, and par level of food and supplies using accept HACCP protocol.
o Places clean dishware in the assigned locations and ensure clean utensils for food preparation and cafeteria service.
o Participates in the orientation of new employees. Standards:
o Conveys knowledge in a concise, complete manner to new employees in an encouraging manner.
o Updates the department manager and/or supervisor of the progress of the new employees.
Required qualifications this position include:
o Food Handlers Permit, or within 14 days of hire.
Preferred qualifications for this position include:
H.S. Diploma or GED Or equivalent educ/experience
Coursework/Training Training in quantity food preparation.
4 years of work experience.
o Food Handlers Permit, or within 14 days of hire.
6 months Institutional food service experience.
