Providence is calling a full time, day shift Dosimetrist to Providence Saint Joseph Medical Center in Burbank, CA.
In this position you will:
Perform treatment planning, including IMRT, external beam, 3D conformal and electron calculations
Coordinate treatment simulations and tumor localizations
Assist the Radiation Oncologists in achieving the most optimal treatment plan for the patient
Supervise the therapist staff in the implementation of the treatment plan at the treatment machine
Perform second checks of treatment plans when required
Maintain and manage the treatment planning schedule to ensure a smooth flow of patients receiving treatment in a timely manner
Perform weekly patient treatment reviews and associated Quality Assurance/Quality Control measurements as necessary
Provide staff in-services in conjunction with the Radiological Physicist
Maintain confidentiality of records or medical center information at all times
Perform all duties in a manner which promotes and supports the Core Values of the Sisters of Providence
Required qualifications for this position include:
Graduate of an AMA - approved Radiation Therapy Technology Program with on-the-job training in medical dosimetry of a Certified Dosimetrist, Radiation Physicist and Radiation Oncologist. Total duration of the training and practical experience must be a minimum of two years OR
Graduate of an AAMD-approved hospital or university-affiliated Medical Dosimetry Program with a clinical and classroom curriculum of nine month’s duration or longer, with practical experience of a minimum of one year
One year post education working as a Medical Dosimetrist
Knowledge of technical aspects of radiation therapy, computer radiotherapy management systems, and basic word processing functions
Preferred qualifications for this position include:
- Certification by Medical Dosimetry Certification Board (consideration will be given to CMD-eligible with strong clinical experience)
