Providence is calling a Per Diem, Day Shift Acupressure Practitioner o Providence Saint Joseph Medical Center in Burbank, CA.
In this position you will:
Be a complementary health practitioner, who takes a holistic approach to the maintenance of health and management of disease with focus on improving overall wellbeing of patients throughout the Integrative Medicine Clinic.
Work closely with the IM Medical Director and Disney Family Cancer Center (DFCC) Director to ensure that evidence-based therapies are provided to our patients.
The ideal candidate will also be able to provide acupressure services as a certified Acupressure Practitioner.
Provide safe, effective and appropriate acupressure services to DFCC patients/clients with and without a cancer diagnosis, taking into account individual patient‘s special physical or age-related needs.
Requires skills in patient/client evaluation and therapy.
Perform health history on clients and updates prior to each session.
Ascertain precautions/contradictions for acupressure prior to each session.
Explain procedures and applies techniques appropriate to client needs and preferences.
Observe client reactions to services and modifies as necessary.
Solicit feedback and responds accordingly.
Document all sessions performed according to established guidelines. It is expected that this individual will also participate in the clinical research sponsored by the Integrative Medicine Program.
Required qualifications for this position include:
Ability to evaluate clinical matters and develop a complementary medicine treatment plan.
Ability to work with the clinic staff regarding day-to-day operational issues that may affect provider work.
Ability to participate in the grant writing process and enroll
Knowledge of currently accepted acupressure theory and practice, and associated legal and ethical issues.
Ability to adapt acupressure treatments to the unique needs of the cancer patient.
Ability to establish therapeutic relationships with clients.
Ability to read and write treatment notes, reports, clinical notes, and communications to and from other team members.
Ability to use computerized documentation, billing and e-mail software programs.
Preferred qualifications for this position include:
- Three years of clinical patient experience
