Join a motivated team dedicated to helping people unable to afford their medications. The Medication Assistance Resource Map Specialist connects patients with programs that allow them to access the treatment they need.
We are seeking a Resource Map Specialist - Medication Assistance Program who will member of the Medication Assistance Program service team. This position plays a key role in maintaining a high level of patient satisfaction by providing patients with exceptional customer service and serving as the liaison between patients, physicians and drug industry. The MAP Representative is responsible for accessing Charity Assistance Programs offered by pharmaceutical manufacturers. These companies offer free drugs or free drug replacement when their products are prescribed for outpatients or administered to inpatients who meet specified eligibility criteria. Potentially eligible patients may be referred from employed physician clinics within the Providence system. Once a patient has been referred, the MAP Representative will work with the patient, clinic, physician and drug manufacturer to ascertain eligibility, file required forms and documentation and arrange for drug distribution to the patient.
In this position you will have the following responsibilities:
Work as a department to maintain updated information on over 600 pharmaceutical manufacturer indigent care programs and continuously communicate changes/updates to the team leader
Serve as the patient advocate for the pharmaceutical companies and other related resources
Accept referrals from primary care providers of patients who may be eligible for free drug programs offered by pharmaceutical manufacturers
Determine patient eligibility
Assist eligible patients in obtaining free drug supplies from pharmaceutical manufacturers
Consult with clinical pharmacists by suggesting and verifying eligibility for alternative drug therapies for specific patients in order to maximize available assistance
Process all paperwork related to the PMG Medication Assistance Program to include generating, copying and mailing applications to the pharmaceutical companies
Refer patients to other assistance programs (such as discount cards, Medicaid) when appropriate
Serve as a liaison for acquisition of PHS charity medications
Resolve patient concerns or complaints in a professional, helpful manner
Involve department coordinator as needed
Exchange patient medical information via open and effective communication with medical staff and physicians while maintaining all HIPAA standards
Answer and screen incoming telephone calls in a courteous, prompt and informative manner
Provide information and directs calls appropriately
Record messages utilizing the electronic medical record computer system and the MAP tracking system in an accurate, complete and timely manner
Identify medically urgent/emergent telephone calls and requests and respond appropriately following PMG and MAP policies
Establish effective working relationships with clinic staff, physicians, clinical pharmacists and pharmaceutical companies
Open and process incoming mail, while paying special attention to details and errors on documents received
Work monthly tracking follow-up and clean-up reports
Required qualifications for this position includes:
High School Diploma -OR- GED or equivelent experience
Pharmacy Tech CPhT
One (1) year of Pharmacy experience.
Extensive computer, data entry and typing (minimum of 40 wpm) experience.
Preferred qualifications for this position includes:
One (1) year of Customer service experience.
Medical terminology, pharmaceutical nomenclature and medication class knowledge, coding and insurance experience.
