Providence St. Joseph Health is calling a Clinical Pharmacy Specialist for Managed Care in Beaverton, OR. We are seeking a clinical pharmacist that will be responsible for the effective provision of clinical pharmacy population health and patient services to members of Providence Health Plan (PHP). Job responsibilities will mainly support the Pharmacy and Therapeutics (P&T) Committee work to promote safe, high-quality, and cost-effective use of prescription medications. Specific duties include, but not limited to evaluation of new drug therapies, drug utilization review activities, development and review of utilization management activities, and support of population and group-level initiatives. Additional responsibilities will include support of member services in reviewing member-specific prior authorization and exception requests and acting as a resource for physicians and nurses requesting clinical pharmacy services support. Education and consultation with physicians, pharmacists, nurses, and other members of the health care team, both internally and externally, will be required.
In this position you will have the following responsibilities:
Perform drug utilization management functions and initiatives including medical drug policy generation, review, and application including prior-authorization, general DUR, and population and group level initiatives and educational programs to improve safety and quality in the provision of drug therapy.
Effectively and regularly communicate verbally and/or in writing clinical pharmacy functions to multidisciplinary team members and other health care professionals including physicians, pharmacists, nurses, and others who may be participating in a patient's care.
Participate in educational activities and programs for health plan professional staff using effective and appropriate teaching methods.
Serve as a resource person to physicians and nurses requesting clinical pharmacy services support.
Participate in meetings of the P&T team, pharmacy department, HealthCare Services department, PHP all-staff, and other groups and committees as assigned.
Coordinate ongoing quality assurance evaluations of clinical pharmacy services activities and implement necessary action as appropriate.
Required qualifications for this position includes:
Graduate from an accredited College of Pharmacy
Master's Degree in Pharmacy with residency or PGY1 and 1 year experience
PGY1 with Providence Health Plans or 3 years experience as a Clinical Pharmacist
Current registration and licensure by the Oregon State Board of Pharmacy or the ability to obtain licensure prior to employment
Preferred qualifications for this position includes:
- Board of Pharmaceutical Specialties certification
