Providence Health & Services Therapy Aide - PEC in Anchorage, Alaska
Providence is calling a Therapy Aide (Physical Therapy, Days, 0.6 FTE) to Providence Extended Care in Anchorage, Alaska. We are a community of caregivers delivering every day on our Mission to provide compassionate care that is accessible for all - especially those who are poor and vulnerable.
In this position you will:
Assist with patient care under supervision of professionals duly licensed or certified in their respective professions (i.e. physical therapists, occupational therapists, speech therapists). These activities may include the activities listed under Therapy Aide I, activities of daily living such as feeding, bathing, and dressing, supervision of swallowing programs, assisting with modified barium swallow studies, and other tasks as deemed appropriate by the supervising professional
Function in multiple areas (Physical Therapy, Occupational Therapy, Speech Therapy, RN)
Maintain a clean, safe working environment according to hospital maintenance and infection control standards
Assist clerical staff with general office procedures and maintenance of department inventory. This includes handling of patient charges and checking them for accuracy, researching and ordering of non stock equipment and supplies, maintenance of patient education files, maintenance of clinic files
Maintain confidentiality of patient, medical and personal information
Prioritize multiple demands in a cost-effective manner. Seek assistance in prioritization of tasks as appropriate. Demonstrate competency and knowledge of specific department equipment
Complete Competency Plan for assigned job and department
Required qualifications for this position include:
High school diploma or equivalent
Current BLS certification from American Heart Association upon hire or the ability to accomplish within thirty (30) days of date of hire required
Preferred qualifications for this position include:
Certified Nursing Assistant in Alaska at a Skilled Nursing Facility
Experience or volunteer work in rehabilitation setting for 1 year
About Providence Extended Care at the Cottages
Providence Extended Care at the Cottages is located on a campus that includes eight cottages and a Commons Building. The Cottages are home to 96 residents. The Commons Building includes the facility reception area, Resident Bank, Gift Shop, Rehabilitation Therapies, Chapel, Supplies, Plant Services, Dietary, Support Services, Staff Development, Administration offices and Conference Rooms. The Cottages bear the names of Alaskan rivers and are arranged in alphabetical order along Compassion Circle.
Each cottage is a home that contains 12 private bedrooms/baths situated around a warm, inviting hearth and living area. An open kitchen allows residents and guests to enjoy the aromas and happenings of a kitchen, just like home. Each Cottage includes a Den along with a Spa and beauty/barber shop station. A patio off the dining area provides easy access to the outdoors and gardening opportunities. Large windows in the living area provide views for all to enjoy.
