Providence Health & Services Supervisor- Transfusion Services in Anchorage, Alaska
Providence is calling a Supervisor – Transfusion Supervisor (Blood Bank, 1.0 FTE, Day shift ) to Providence Alaska Medical Center in Anchorage, Alaska.

In this position you will:
Facilitate, support, and model teamdecisions; expand and coacheteamwork.
Coordinate with the Technical Manager andMedical Director(s) develops quality indicators and measures performance.
Direct daily workflow.
Be responsible for completing personnel schedulesassuring they meet the staffing needs, staffing targets and budget guidelines
Be responsible for and participates in the planningand formulation of policies and procedures for laboratory section.
Oversee operational compliance with standards set by regulatory agencies (such as CAP, CLIA, OSHA, AABB, CMS, OIG and TJC.)
Be responsible for screening, interviewing andhiring applicants.
Be accountable for development and implementationof education programs for new employee, student training for UAA MLS and MLT programs,and general in-service education for thespecialities within the department
Perform routine laboratory testing in the areasupervised, i.e. transfusion services.
Required qualifications for this position include:
Completion of a Baccalaureate Degreein Medical Technology, Medical LaboratoryScience, Biological or ChemicalScience and training equivalent to qualify for certification as a Medical LaboratoryScientists by the American Society of Clinical Pathologists (ASCP)Specialized training/education in Blood Bank (i.e. SBB certification from ASCP) forTransfusion Services Section preferred.
A minimum of four years work experience in theclinical laboratory.
Current certification as a Medical LaboratoryScientist (MLS) or Medical Technologtist (MT) from a n nationally accreditedbody such as the American Society of Clinical Pathologists (ASCP), AmericanAssociation of Bioanalysts (AAB) or American Medical Technologists (AMT); SBB preferredfor Transfusion Services supervisor.
Must be able to work capably in a stressfulenvironment, organize work, prioritize, meet deadlines, and follow-through ofobjectives and projects.
Demonstratesgood reasoning ability and independent judgment.
Conforms to accepted professional standardsof conduct. Must exhibit excellentcommunication skills, both written and verbal.
Preferred qualifications for this position include:
Specialized training/education in Blood Bank (i.e. SBB certification from ASCP) for Transfusion Services Supervisor
Previous supervisory experience preferred
