Providence Health & Services Speech Therapist - Peds Neuro in Anchorage, Alaska
Providence is calling a Speech Therapist (Pmg Peds Neurosciences, Day Shift, 1.0 FTE) to Providence Alaska Medical Center in Anchorage, Alaska. In this position you will:
Assess, plan, implement and evaluate Speech Language Pathology services for children, ages birth to 18, according to professional standards and under the prescription of a physician/provider licensed in the state of Alaska.
Communicate with team members and outside agencies to identify patient needs, changes, overall condition of patient(s) and determine future levels of care.
Document all aspect of care and outcomes in a manner that is clear to others, and meets service standards. Plans for patient care and discharge with attention given to home programs, equipment arrangement and patient/family education.
Delegate appropriate patient activities to co-workers and aids using professional criteria. Gathers feedback from team members and communicates any information as appropriate for patient care.
Exhibit clinical skills relevant to level of education and training in pediatrics.
Contact and communicate with vendors for durable medical equipment/augmentative communication needs.
Provide patient and family education in a variety of physical settings.
Demonstrate safe use and knowledge of equipment in pediatric and/or therapy department.
Required qualifications for this position include:
Bachelor's degree Speech Language Pathology
1 year experience and credentials in pediatrics
Current license to practice Speech Pathology in the State of Alaska
Clinical Fellowship Year candidates will be considered, with commitment of continued employment after certification and full licensure
Strong verbal communication and listening skills
Effective interpersonal skills
Preferred qualifications for this position include:
Master's degree in Speech Language Pathology
1 year experience in dysphagia
Must be able to instruc para-and non professional staff
