Providence Health & Services Speech Therapist - Peds Neuro in Anchorage, Alaska

Description:

Providence is calling a Speech Therapist (Pmg Peds Neurosciences, Day Shift, 1.0 FTE) to Providence Alaska Medical Center in Anchorage, Alaska. In this position you will:

  • Assess, plan, implement and evaluate Speech Language Pathology services for children, ages birth to 18, according to professional standards and under the prescription of a physician/provider licensed in the state of Alaska.

  • Communicate with team members and outside agencies to identify patient needs, changes, overall condition of patient(s) and determine future levels of care.

  • Document all aspect of care and outcomes in a manner that is clear to others, and meets service standards. Plans for patient care and discharge with attention given to home programs, equipment arrangement and patient/family education.

  • Delegate appropriate patient activities to co-workers and aids using professional criteria. Gathers feedback from team members and communicates any information as appropriate for patient care.

  • Exhibit clinical skills relevant to level of education and training in pediatrics.

  • Contact and communicate with vendors for durable medical equipment/augmentative communication needs.

  • Provide patient and family education in a variety of physical settings.

  • Demonstrate safe use and knowledge of equipment in pediatric and/or therapy department.

Qualifications:

Required qualifications for this position include:

  • Bachelor's degree Speech Language Pathology

  • 1 year experience and credentials in pediatrics

  • Current license to practice Speech Pathology in the State of Alaska

  • Clinical Fellowship Year candidates will be considered, with commitment of continued employment after certification and full licensure

  • Strong verbal communication and listening skills

  • Effective interpersonal skills

Preferred qualifications for this position include:

  • Master's degree in Speech Language Pathology

  • 1 year experience in dysphagia

  • Must be able to instruc para-and non professional staff
