Providence Security Manager in Anchorage, Alaska
Providence is calling a Security Manager (Security, Varaible Shift, 1.0 FTE - 40 hours per week ) to Providence Alaska Medical Center in Anchorage, Alaska. In this position you will:
Hire and develop staff in competencies to provide for the security of the campus, 24 hours per day, seven days per week. Competency development includes: Managing overt hostile situations, including disorderly and dangerous persons, assisting in restraint of and management of persons with mental or behavioral issues that require one-on-one management, de-escalation of situations involving personal conflict, managing scenes where disruption or emergency situations are in progress, responding to child abduction, and responding to other emergency events such as: Fire, hazardous materials exposure, on-campus arrest, crowd control or other safety issues requiring immediate response.
Manages the parking enforcement and ground security in a planned and strategic effort to assure availability of parking and for the safety of persons parking on the campus of PAMC. This includes monitoring the functionality and availability of safety and security devices and equipment installed to support safety in the parking areas, including lighting.
Support organization fire prevention efforts, including inspection of fire extinguishers, coordination and conducting of fire drills, first response to fire alarms and other measures related to the fire and life safety plan.
Responsible for developing and maintaining safe response capability for HAZ-MAT and other immediate safety-threatening situations, to achieve containment and isolation of the threat, including ordering of evacuation of areas.
Develop and manage the operating budget and financial expenditures for security, including planning and submitting request for capital and information technology expenditures.
Required qualifications for this position include:
Bachelor’s degree in Business Administration, Police Administration or related field
Obtain a valid Alaska Drivers License in accordance with Alaska Statute
BLS must be obtained in accordance with PSJH Policy, and maintained current thereafter
Control Tactics/De-escalation certification must be obtained within 90 days of employment or as training schedule permits and maintained current thereafter
Conductive Electrical Weapon (Taser) certification must be obtained within 90 days of employment or as training schedule permits and maintained current thereafter
4 years direct security officer, law enforcement or Department of Corrections experience, with demonstrated abilities in life safety
2 years commissioned peace officer or four years experience in a related security or investigative field. May be reduced to two years if the applicant has successfully completed and authorized police or department of corrections academy
3 years previous supervisory/leadership experience
Must be familiar with hospital safety issues, including fire safety, HAZMAT, general safety, OSHA, and Joint Commission safety related criteria
Must have a thorough knowledge of law enforcement techniques and an advanced understanding or law pertaining to security
Oleoresin Capsicum Aerosol Training (OCAT) must be obtained within first six months of employment and maintained current thereafter
Must complete ICS Level 100, 200, 300 and 700 courses within 1 year of employment
Must complete International Association for Healthcare Security and Safety (IAHSS) Supervisor Certification within 1 year
Preferred qualifications for this position include:
- Qualification in weaponry of various types, including handguns and chemical gasses
