Providence Health & Services Pharmacy Technician I in Anchorage, Alaska
Providence is calling a Pharmacy Technician I (Pharmacy, Variable Shift, 1.0 FTE) to Providence Alaska Medical Center in Anchorage, AK. In this position you will have the following responsibilities:
Utilize technical skills in performance of daily operations. This includes filling floor stock and cassettes, packaging unit dose medications, accurately completing daily computer entry and backup. Perform compounding of preparations under the supervision of a licensed Pharmacist. Responsible for proper drug and chemical storage according to department guidelines.
Utilize critical thinking in performance of Pharmaceutical Care activities. Perform mathematical calculations. Utilize sterile technique in the compounding of oral, topical, and/or perinatal pharmaceutical.
Collaborate with team members to utilize resources efficiently. Make suggestions on ways to improve quality of services.
Work with other team members to obtain and/or provide information and identify patient and other customer needs.
Document patient and procedural information accurately and thoroughly. Perform inventory functions: checking in and putting away orders, maintenance of appropriate records.
Utilize abilities and knowledge to maximize individual performance. Handle hazardous agents in a manner that ensures asepsis and minimal exposure to hazardous substances.
Complete initial and annual Competency Plan for assigned job and department.
Required qualifications for this position include:
High school diploma or equivalent
Licensed as a Pharmacy Technician in the State of Alaska
Must submit current, valid and original Alaska Pharmacy Technician license at time of hire to the department for verification.
Copies of the license as well as the wallet card verification are not acceptable
Preferred qualifications for this position include:
6 months experience working as a technician in a retail or hospital pharmacy
Hospital pharmacy experience utilizing unit dose, IV admixture, and a pharmacy computer system
