Providence Health & Services Orthopedic Care Technician I *0.9/Nights, up to $3,000 Hiring Bonus* in Anchorage, Alaska
Providence is calling a Orthopedic Care Technician I (3 West Ortho, Night Shift, 0.9 FTE, 36 hours per week) to Providence Alaska Medical Center in Anchorage, Alaska. In this position you will:
Demonstrate understanding of and provides care according to Standards of Practice and the patient’s Care Plan. These duties are under the supervision of the Licensed RN and/or Professional Associate(MD/PA)
Perform duties to assist in activities of daily living such as bathing, ambulating, and nourishment
Obtain clean catch and other types of urine samples, performs point-of–care testing to include blood glucose, transports and/or escort patients
Utilize the “Hand Off Communication Tools, “SBAR”
Demonstrate patient “Rounding” as defined by unit/hospital policy
Electronically documents information in an accurate, concise and timely manner
Competent in the input and retrieval of this information within the patient’s medical record
Be responsible for documenting vital signs, I/Os, pain scores, weights, meal intake, activities of daily living and any other necessary information.
Maintain a safe environment for patients, families, and co-workers.
Observe patients closely for changes in their health condition and responds by informing RN immediately
Report problematic and unusual circumstances in a timely and consistent manner, to RN partner or charge nurse
Communicate effectively with the RN or other caregivers regarding patient issues, family issues, MD issues, and equipment
Communicate in a compassionate manner to patients, families, and visitors
Assist in the patient admitting, transfer, and discharge procedure
Required qualifications for this position include:
- Completion of nurse aide training program or six (6) months of nurse aide experience
Preferred qualifications for this position includes:
Orthopedic specific certification
Previous orthopedic experience

Providence Alaska Medical Center's Orthopedic Unit is a 36-bed unit, providing orthopedic care for elective procedures and admission, injuries, and major multi-trauma. There are two levels of care: Regular medical/surgical care and high level of intermediate care that includes bedside cardiac monitors and telemetry. Nurse to patient ratio varies depending upon acuity and the patient level of care.
