Providence Health & Services Operating Room Assistant II * 1 FTE, Variable shift* in Anchorage, Alaska
Providence is calling an Operating Room Assistant (Operating Room, Variable Shift, 1 FTE) to Providence Alaska Medical Center in Anchorage, Alaska. We are a community of caregivers delivering every day on our Mission to provide compassionate care that is accessible for all - especially those who are poor and vulnerable.
In this position you will:
Anticipate the equipment and supply needs of Nursing and Anesthesia staff, initiates actions to expedite the surgery and assist in the care of the patient.
Appropriately identify and safely transport patients to and from Surgical Services according to procedure. Provides for the comfort and safety of patients during transport.
Place surgical equipment in the Operating Rooms in the correct location. Prepares appropriate equipment for procedures. Cleans and sterilizes equipment before and after use.
Perform daily cleaning of Operating Rooms prior to first cases of the day and throughout the day. Perform decontamination between cases. Clean, maintain, stock, and store equipment. Decontaminate and clean anesthesia equipment between cases. Complete daily cleaning records.
Assist with sterile preps, positioning of patients.
Assist with setting up anesthesia equipment and supplies as needed in each operating room. Clean and decontaminate equipment used in the anesthetic care of patients. Turn over anesthesia circuits between cases. Complete weekly Compact Bloc cleaning.
Organize & restock storage areas within the Operating Room and anesthesia workroom.
Required qualifications for this position include:
6 monthsinternal OR Assistant I candidates must have Operating Room Assistant experience and must complete the Operating Room Assistant competency program
1 year external candidates must have experience as an Operating Room Assistant or equivalent in a hospital based operating room
Preferred qualifications for this position include:
Completed training as a Certified Nursing Assistant
Strong verbal communication and listening skills
