Providence Infection Preventionist 1 - St. Elias in Anchorage, Alaska
Providence is calling an Infection Preventionist 1 (Infection Control, Days, 1.0 FTE) at St Elias Specialty Hospital in Anchorage, Alaska. In this position you will have the following responsibilities:
Relationships: Develop strong relationships with colleagues from key departments, including: Environmental Services, Emergency Preparedness, Pharmacy, Nursing Leadership, Surgery Leadership, Safety, Central Services, Quality, Medical Affairs, Facility Maintenance and Construction, Laboratory, Risk Management, Patient Safety, Linen Services, and Materials Management.
High Reliability: Demonstrate understanding of high reliability principles through use of tools, tones, and behaviors that promote patient safety.
Regulatory: Demonstrate understanding of regulatory and advisory guidelines through application.
Leading Practice: Utilize and synthesize scientific evidence for decision making and intervention planning.
Surveillance: Effectively apply surveillance definitions and gather relevant surveillance data.
Education: Present infection prevention related data in an effective manner that is appropriate to the audience.
Use of Resources: Effectively navigate the electronic medical record and available surveillance software and tools.
Scope of influence: Effectively and efficiently manage daily operations of infection prevention responsibilities, including (but not limited to) improvement, rounding, and consultation.
Epidemiology: Identify occurrences, reservoirs, incubation periods, periods of communicability, modes of transmission, signs and symptoms of susceptibility associated with disease.
Required qualifications for this position includes:
Bachelor's Degree in Laboratory Science, Nursing, Public Health, or other health-related field
RN candidates must be currently licensed in the state in which they are applying..
APIC roadmap to Certification (CIC) within 2 years of hire.
Three (3) years healthcare or public health experience. A Master's Degree in health-related field can be substituted for 2 of the 3 years of experience.
Preferred qualification for this position include:
- Master's Degree in Laboratory Science, Nursing, Public Health, or other health-related field or may be substituted for 2 years of experience in healthcare or public health.
About St. Elias Specialty Hospital:
St. Elias Specialty Hospital is owned by Providence Health System. The hospital has 59 beds, almost all private rooms. The facility features state of the art equipment to provide extended inpatient acute care for patients.
At St. Elias Specialty Hospital, we provide customized, physician-driven services for patients requiring longer stays in an acute care environment due to multiple or complex medical conditions. We are not a permanent placement for patients; rather we are an answer for many patients who are acutely ill and need to take the first steps towards rehabilitation or home.
